Hi
I received a letter from Barclaycard saying they would be in touch before 31st August with a offer. Just got a reply to say they won't be offering me anything as they can't find a record of the policy. Barclaycard was the first card I took out manyt moons ago (17 years ago - gulp!) and I know I has PPI as I was told I had to take it because I was a student. Can I assume from the letter I have received that they mist have cancelled this on my account over 6 years ago. I wanted to run this past the forum before I accept defeat as I have had such a great deal of help from people in the past and won't rest until I know there is no possible way forward. There isn't anything on my statements saying I was paying PPI but EGG was the same and it turns out I was actually paying PPI on that card you just had to go through a few screens onlinethe statement to find it.
Would welcome any help at all, or just some re-assurance that I'm not being 'brushed under the carpet' - Thanx in advance and well done to everyone who has been successful.0 -

Hi there
And with it being 17 years ago its likely it was added anyway.
Have you also requested a SAR (Subject Access Request), I note you said about a possible cancellation 6 years ago, if this was the case as they must hold data for at least the last 6 years then it should be all disclosed within the paperwork from the SAR. This will hopefully prove your point of having PPI on the account.
If you have not requested a SAR, you can optionally do so by requesting for this by using the full template letter below, enclose £10 cheque or postal order, and they have 40 calendar days to comply.
Sometimes they still hold data going back even earlier.

It's up to you of course if you want to do this though but just another suggestion.
Hope this helps.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I knew I would get a response from the forum - thanx....fingers crossed!0

Hi and welcome
Offers of compensation can vary, so depending if your happy with the amount or not and what you feel is fair compared to what you have paid of the amount and so.
If your not happy with the offer, have they given the final response on this, or have they given you the opportunity to forward further info in order for them to reconsider a higher amount? (or put you back in the position as if you did not have ppi)?
thanks for your reply, i really have no idea of how much ppi i have paid since 2006 roughly so i have no idea what to expect!? if its a decent amount i think i will just accept it. originally i asked for all details with terms and conditions but they have never sent this all they sent was the letter with offer of compensation. oh they havent given me final response yet no0 -
