Hi Derwent, congratulations on your success, may I ask when you put your complaint in and were you dealing with anyone in particular? My MBNA CC PPI complaint has been on the go since may so I wrote to the CEO on monday and have since had a Complaints Manager called Matthew assigned.
Well done to you and to everyone who has had good news this week and here's to many more successes.

If u dont mind me asking how much was your balance and how long did you have the card for?

Credit limit on the card was £10,000 and I had it between 1995 and 2001.

I only submitted my claim on 16th July. I think it depends on who you get as the person dealing with your claim. Just like any other organisation they'll have competent and incompetent ones ! I guess I got lucky and got a competent one.

At first I found Citi very frustrating as they did not reply to any letters or emails, until I found out the direct telephone number for their PPI team. Once I could deal with them directly it only took a couple of telephone calls and they were actually quite decent about the whole thing. A young lady called Amy in their PPI team was very helpful and got things sorted.

Some of these wins are getting to be large sums!!!

Good news about MBNA, does anyone on the forum have any thoughts as to why MBNA would automatically uohold PPI on loans, and not credit cards? ( am a bit vague on this?)
am certain one of our superstars will have thoughts on it...:)

A really good win then, your card was way before the 2006 "safety guard" that some banks are inclined to hide behind.:j

I reclaimed from RBS...had my card since 1997...but they cannot find my original agreement, and so only paid out back to 2006!!:mad:

This fab news, and gives lots of us encouragement...seems some banks play fairer than others...one last query...are MBNA the bank behind Virgin? Wonder if this will help claimants for Virgin....

I called MBNA this morning to get an update - apparently, they sent me a letter on 2nd August re my old Thomas Cook card (decision upheld, so just waiting on their offer). I was really pleased and asked them to read it out to me but they wouldn't. The letter has been archived (!) and the Advocate Dept don't take calls but will endeavour to call me in the next 5 days and will try to resend the letter.

Same for the Virgin card - however, I got this letter when I got home tonight, asking me to call the very same Advocate Dept to discuss the matter!! Don't know how they can take this call once I have the letter, but couldn't talk to me this morning! Absolutely mad and really annoying.
