hi all no cc / ppi updates from me boy good luck to everyone and congrats to everyone.
my only happy news today is;
Got sar sorted from halifax. Went through bank charges total came to just over 1700 including the 900 that at present.
Used martins bank charge template and calculator charges letter and asked for money back on the 12 july posted 14 july. Saying wanted 1700 back or going fos.
Checked my halifax account they cleared the 906.31 yesterday and put balance and overdraft to 0.00. i called them to make sure they said the charges were unfair when i couldnt afford them in the 1st place give it till next week i can starft banking with them but i dont have to close the account.
So thank u Martin for this wonderful website.0 -

Got a call earlier from HSBC to say my claim has been upheld :-)
The guy couldn't tell me the value though as it had been passed through to his manager for authorisation and they're not allowed to tell you how much until the calculations have been checked and authorised. He's ringing back on Monday morning to confirm the amount. Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............0 -
Quick update from me- got asletter back from MBNA(Virgin) 28 day response letter looks fairly standard or is that good news?0

Hi am looking for a bit of help...have had some success from capital 1 after initially being told outright 'no refund of ppi final response' on my OH card. He has had the card since 04 and apparently 'asked' to have ppi added in a phone call to activate a replacement card. I emailed to say that didnt accept this as he was serving in the army and would have been no use to him and why woud he ask to have it added at a kater date while still a soldier?! anyway after ringing again to actually cancel his PPI was told an offer letter had been sent. This also crossed over with the SAR request we sent to prov this phone call.
Anyway i wonderd if you think this offer is fair as hes been payin PPI on a 2-3k balance since december 05. Letter says:
Total redress consiists of
£683.61 in premiums
£24.09 in associated interest
£152.67 8% statutory interest
TOTAL: £860.37
Does that sound about right or should we wair for the SAR details so can go through and add up what he has paid for ourselvs ir take it and be happy that he got something when they orrigionaly said no??!!!
Any advice would be much appriciated!

Often, the "tick box" was ticked (being generous) "on behalf of customers" by "some" banks - does the tick match his handwriting?
And what does the text say by the tickbox - anything like "we strongly recommend you take this insurance"? - does it details the cost (such as "1% of the outstanding balance") within the actual agreement document (NOT the seperate leaflets)
This should in no way put you off - have they said this is their final response?
If so, you need to send your complaint to the FOS, stating the fact your other 1/2 had cover elsewhere as your main reason, but also that you were not given detail as to what the cover terms and exclusions were at the time of sale
The leaflets and all that guff are just there to try and put you off what you have - a legitimate claim
FOS will take some time, but its better than letting Cap 1 keep it without a fight and theres loads of help and support for you here!0 -
to all you people with ppi get your policy number talk to the ombusmans office they will help you all the way do not make the same mistake as i did first time round do not use a claims company or the likes they only ripp you off they do no work at all for there money you end up talking to the ombusman these companys tell you they do every thing but believe me they dont but when its comes to there money they will chase you & hassle you & make your life complete hell i now have had to employed a solicitor to try & sorte them out these people are low life scum & should be avoided they are 1000% worse than the banks0
