PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Only now been managing to post, been sorting out my paperwork yet again - with a case that has been with the FOS for a few years now, it seems now it will be passed on to the ombudsman, the adjudicator I believe fails to understand how my actual case works.
I am glad really it will be moved on to the ombudsman, I realise it's a complexed case, but despite sending all the proof he asked for previously, he still doesn't get it.
Arh well, another 3 years on this one I expect lol.;)
Good luck, Di...you really deserve it!:A
But, really it's not on that your wait should be so long...can you imagine the banks waiting that long for an outcome???:rotfl:xx0 -
Thank you Martin
We completed your online form and forwarded this to the Insurance Company, they forwarded a form which we duly completed.
Today we have received a letter stating they are giving back the total amount we paid and also 8% interest.
We hope to receive the amount of £2717.00 shortly.
Many thanks and for those unsure about reclaiming, you have nothing to lose.0 -
Last year I referred to Martins moneysaving site for where to buy my holiday currency. I chose Crown Currency and lost £700 as the company went bust the day I was meant to receive my dollars in the post :-( on a happier note though, I stuck with Martin and used the letter templates to claim my PPI to my credit card. Today RBS have offered me £598 which I'm now considering is a replacement for what I lost with Crown currencies. You win some, you lose some! :-)
A good way to look at it...good for you, well done!:j0 -
I've been reading this thread for some time and i'm really pse the amount of peeps that have got PPI back :j
I've got quite a few claims going through with the banks and have been told to wait 16weeks etc
Ive got a ACE/studio cards catalogue acc which im trying to claim PPI on today i received a letter saying because my acc has been covered since 5jan 2002 therefore we are unable to refund backdated chargers
is this correct ? i still have an active acc with them
any help would be brill thanks x0 -
The way I understand it (and this is shown by D's post above), you should get
A) Premiums paidThe interest amounts charged on these premiums by the CC
C) Amount arrived at by compounding the interest (e.g: interest charged in May 2009 on interest charged in April 2009, and so on)
D) 8% interest on the total amounts of A+B+C from the date the amounts were charged
I actually wonder whether it would be worthwhile paying a decent accountant to come up with a true figure on any credit card PPI claimed?
Interesting thought, i used to work with some very good accountants, might get them to have a look.
Thanks good news, guess the compound interest could make a massive difference !

Hubby was trying to reclaim PPI from Capital One from credit card taken out in 2004, he was sure PPI sold over phone but received a copy of the leaflet application he filled in and shows PPI box ticked, and also copy of small leaflet explaining benefit of PPI giving 30 days to cancel, hubby did not need this cover as covered elsewhere through employer, card is still running and not sure if can pursue this any further now  Any advice on this much appreciated:)0

Still no cheque in todays post so I have requested a BACS transfer from them. Apparently, they can't orgainse a bank transfer to me and would have to cancel the cheque and then re-issue it!!!!
What?!! A bank can't sort out a bank transfer?!! That's worrying to say the least.
Thanks for reply Lisa sounds like they are just mucking people about they should not send letters saying 28 days if they are going to not keep to it ,after all the grief i have had with them over the last couple of years over my late payments might just slap them with a late payment fee and a bit more interest0 -
Seems the way to go, its weird how they seem to have covered everything in their letter and make you feel that this is the end of the matter,
should i send the full reply from them to the FOS.0 -

Often, the "tick box" was ticked (being generous) "on behalf of customers" by "some" banks - does the tick match his handwriting?
And what does the text say by the tickbox - anything like "we strongly recommend you take this insurance"? - does it details the cost (such as "1% of the outstanding balance") within the actual agreement document (NOT the seperate leaflets)
This should in no way put you off - have they said this is their final response?
If so, you need to send your complaint to the FOS, stating the fact your other 1/2 had cover elsewhere as your main reason, but also that you were not given detail as to what the cover terms and exclusions were at the time of sale
The leaflets and all that guff are just there to try and put you off what you have - a legitimate claim
FOS will take some time, but its better than letting Cap 1 keep it without a fight and theres loads of help and support for you here!-
Congratulations to all who have got their PPI back!

Amersall, Di, ive just noticed a small error with the paperwork, on the demands and needs statement it gives us figures for a single life cover etc and is signed by myself and my wife, however we took out joint hence both of us signing, and the figures for joint are completely different , when we settled we have statements which clearly shows original premiums for joint cover and these are what we paid , minor but interesting that they have the figures wrong, and why would we both sign for a single cover.0
