    Hello everyone

As your policy was sold before 22nd December 03, unfortunately you are unable to refer to your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) as we were not a member of a Dispute Resolution Sevice until this date. I feel it is appropriate to point out that, if you do decide to refer to FOS, it is unlikely that they will consider your complaint. However, they will require you to confirm that we have issued a final response, and to that end you may consider this letter as our final response.

Sonnie, i had the same letter from littlewoods regarding my charges i was trying to claim . I must admit it had stopped me from trying, untill i read your message now i think they send a standard letter to everyone and i will be writing back to them to have another go.

please let me know how you get on. i'll do the same to you .

Hi Sonnie and Katie, I received my letter from Littlewoods yesterday with the same paragraph in so they are using this to put claimants off regularly it would seem. I'm not leaving it there-I've just emailed the FOS to find out if it is true and I have responded back to Littlewoods threatening court action anyway! I'll keep you informed.

Help. I need clarification about a letter i've received today from First Direct in response to my initial letter advising i think i was mis-sold a policy in 2001.

I finished the loan in June 2002 when i think i consolidated it and paid it back.
They disagree that i wasn't advised the PPI was optional as they offer a 30 day cooling off period. And they have said that as the loan was paid back in 2002, i received a partial refund for the remaining term of the loan.

What i want to know is, can i still write back to them to see if i can reclaim for the year that i did have the PPI as they are saying that as the loan was started over 6 years ago, they are unable to consider a claim. I thought the loan had to finish within 6 years, which it does....just.
Can anyone advise if this is worth pursuing, or should i file the letter under B.....for BIN.
    Thanks. :D

Does anyone know if it is possible to claim after someone has died for PPI paid over the last few years. My brother in law had PPI before he died - which he didn't need as he was quite unwell and on a pension for 10yrs, and we didn't think to claim on it when paying off his small credit card bill.

  • You could always try claiming for the "death" benefits of the PPI then if they refuse due to pre-existing medical conditions look at reclaiming the PPI - a lot of companies realise now that the executor doesnt always know where all the insurance policies are until months or even years later.
Happy with any wins this year :A

Saranev, it sounds to me as though you will be owed far more than just the payment protection premium on your loan. You should also be entitled to interest on any payments made and you may get a surprise in that you are owed considerably more than that.

Anyone who has taken out a secured loan or home improvement loan between 1998 and say 2005 should get their loans checked as a matter of course.

However, I have since seen the light.
  • I have PPI on a Lloyds TSB loan and Nationwide Loan. I wrote to both using the template letter and thought that I've got nothing to lose and everything to gain if it works in my favor.

I have already received a response from Lloyds TSB stating that they will not pay what I've already paid because I signed documents stating I wanted PPI which is untrue. But I did phone Lloyds up about my loan and have had a new credit agreement issued (unfortunatly they have to go through the whole loan process again) and have got rid of the PPI and have lowered my payments.

I have had a letter from Nationwide saying that they will give me a response in the next week or two. Will let you know how it goes.

  • Madmich, do you have separate loan insurance incase anything happened and you were unable to pay back the loan for whatever reason?
I want to rid my loans and car finance deals of PPI but I'm sure i'll have to go through the stage of getting a new agreement first as well.
It would be worth in the long run I'm sure.
How did you find lloyds tsb to deal with?
  • Hello can anyone help - can you reclaim over the 6 years?? I have found details of an 8k loan i took out in sep 2001 with PPI and was just wonderin gif it would be worth trying? the loan stoped in 2005?
