Hi everyone, my first post so please excuse any mistakes.
I have used the Littlewoods catologue since 2000, I knew the ppi was added on, but thought it was a condition of the company to have this.
Last year I realised some months, the premiums were upto £50. So I rang them and they said "no problem we will cancel it" at no time did they offer to refund my premiums.
Do I still have a claim? and if so should I put in the letter about not being offered a refund when I canceled.0 -
Can anybody advise me please:question:
I have had a couple of loans and credit cards in the past that I’m sure I’ve had PPI added to them. The trouble is I don’t have a copy of the agreements or I’m not sure how much I’ve paid out in insurance over the years.
What process do I need to go through to get the required details:question: Do I need to ask for a copy of the agreement and copy statements to see how much I’ve paid over the years:question: If this is the case, is there a template letter to send to request the copy statements and agreement:question:0 -
Hi there I wonder if anyone can help? I have several credit cards and 2 store cards of which I have paid PPI on since having them 4 years ago although I have cancelled all but 2 PPI'S. My M and S and more card I cancelled the PPI in Feb of this year as I am a registered self employed child minder who has lost several kids in my care due to one reason or another and although I still mind some children my income has gone down by several hundreds of pounds per month I am unable to fullfill all my financial obligations so I rang M and S and told them my circumstances and said I needed to cancell my ppi as it would make my payments slightly easier and nobody told me I could claim money to help pay my account so I cancelled the policy and have now got reduced payments set up. I wrote to M and S with the template set up by Martin and got a reply today stating the policy was not mis sold and stated I had ticked the ppi box a copy of it was also sent so I can see I ticked the box. I have printed off naother letter as advised by moneyexpert website. Has anyone been successful on this as I could really do with the money to help my financial suituation. Thank s0

Hello everyone
I recently wrote to Littlewoods regarding claiming back my PPI which I have paid since from opening my account with them, and they sent a letter back trying to fob me off basically.
The last paragragh in the letter says:
As your policy was sold before 22nd December 03, unfortunately you are unable to refer to your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) as we were not a member of a Dispute Resolution Sevice until this date. I feel it is appropriate to point out that, if you do decide to refer to FOS, it is unlikely that they will consider your complaint. However, they will require you to confirm that we have issued a final response, and to that end you may consider this letter as our final response.
So now what do I do.
Any advice would be greatfully appreciated.

If you have followed the template letters, write back stating they have 14 days to reconsider there position or you shall be issueing a claim through the courts. It's amazing what a threat of court action can do.;){Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
Contrary to what Martin says in his article about refering them to the FOS, which many of them say you cannot do because of time, I think a better route is to threaten court action. See this:
FSA/PN/102/2007
26 September 2007
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has today published the findings of its latest review of Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) selling standards. They show improvements in some areas, but also that many firms are still failing to treat their customers fairly.
Clive Briault, FSA Managing Director of Retail Markets, said:
"We have, on a number of occasions, set out clearly our requirements for the selling of PPI. While some progress has been made by the industry, we are extremely disappointed that some firms have still made little progress in improving their sales practices.
"The right PPI can provide valuable protection for consumers, but they are entitled to expect that they will be treated fairly by firms when they buy it. They must be told how this product works, what it covers, and how much it costs. At the moment, too many firms are not meeting these requirements.
"We will now strengthen our action against firms who fail to treat customers fairly when selling PPI."
The FSA's latest review assessed whether firms had made improvements in five key areas. Welcome improvements were found in two of these: the vast majority of firms are now making it clear to customers that PPI is optional; and firms are now offering cancellation refunds on virtually all single premium PPI policies.
However, little or no progress has been made in the other three areas: many firms are still not giving customers clear information about the product and what it will cost; not telling them the extent to which they are eligible for PPI cover and what they are covered for; and not telling them why, where advice is given, the recommended PPI policy meets their demands and needs.
The latest review looked at 150 firms, including mystery shopping of personal loan providers. The mystery shopping identified serious failures in the sales processes of a number of firms selling single-premium PPI alongside unsecured personal loans.
As a result four firms will be subject to further investigation and a further 20 cases may also be investigated.
In addition, the following action has already been taken as a result of the FSA visits:- Eleven firms have stopped selling PPI either permanently or temporarily until such time as they get their sales processes in order and/or retrain staff;
- Three firms have cancelled their FSA authorisation to sell PPI; and
- Four large firms are reviewing past PPI sales to ensure they were appropriate.
Work will continue with further firm visits and mystery shopping and focussed work on issues that cut across the PPI market. Our rules are also currently under review.
However the FSA and FOS will only investigate mis-sold PPI from 2004 onwards.
Therefore if your mis-selling complaint was Pre 2004 you will have to issue a claim through the courts, or at least threaten to.

I recieved a long winded reply from loan makers today stating why they would not uphold my complaints about being mis sold my ppi. My main complaint was that I wasn't told that I would only be covered for 3 yes 3 years. I read through the letter with heart sinking with each sentance. Then on the last page headed Demands and needs statement at the bottom of the page it says "The insurance premium is valid for a period of five years" yet I was told on the phone that it is only valid for 3 years.
Ombudsman here I come.2008 won £5119.04 :j
2009 won so far £0:rotfl:
All together now..........
Always look on the bright side of life       :whistle:0 -
