Maybe because there is a few of us having problems with Blackhorse Martin and his team could look into it and help and advice us
    Hello.
I to have been fobbed off by blackhorse. Awaiting 2nd letter reply, long over due! However in Liverpool we have not recieved half the back post from postal strikes so expect it is in that lot! I fully expect another rubbish reply with poor english.
I to took loan out before 2005. I would be very surprised if i got a refund for that reason.
I was thinking that maybe the fos could investigate there complaints handling, as this is their current behaviour. It seems to me that if you were misold before 2005 they dont investigate your complaint just tell you to get lost regardless of how obvious their misconduct is.
Does anyone else think that fos would investigate their current behaviour to consumers?????
  • After two letters to Firstplus been offered a rebate from the insurance that was added to our loan. The insurance was £7500 for 5 years. They have offered me £3772.87, and have made it very clear that this is a good will gesture and this will be their final response in this matter.
I am not happy with this amount but dont want to sound greedy, but we did pay the loan off early (after a year) so feel this offer is far too low.
As their letter sounds final is it in my best interest to send the rejection letter? Please help.
  • Still desperate to get the ball rolling - can anyone help me with this?

Just give the head office a ring explaining you think there may be a problem and could they give you the account numbers and the procedure they use for you to get any information / communications they hold regarding you and the accounts you held.
They may ask you some "security" questions or ask you to send in a photocopy of some ID but the have to help you
    Michelle

Will probably charge you up to £10 for copies
Happy with any wins this year :A

but when i opened the bank account a few months earlier i had told them i was unemployed so will this count as it being 'mis-sold'?

Is there a good answer to the
"it was in the policy documents, it was up to you to read it"
line most lenders seem to be coming back with?

I've asked the Halifax to prove it was sent - I certainly have no recollection of them having sent me anything. They later came back with, "You're right, because you applied by mail we didn't follow the good practice guidelines of the Association of British Insurers which we would have done had you applied over the phone". Which baffled me as they're effectively admitting that they never gavecopies of the t & cs of the insurance, and also acknowledged that because it was a written application form (which the copy they sent me wasn't in my handwritting  so who the hell filled that in, I don't know), they didn't follow good practice guidelines in doing so.

Make no mistake, I'm going to court with the Hellifax over this one. I got one grammatically pathetic response from their Customer Services Team (who would have been better taking it to their local nursery for a more coherent answer), in which they admitted some of their failings, but still, no refund. So I've since written to the Chief Executive's Office and they are 'looking into it' Well, they'd better hurry up with their 'looking into it' as my patience is running out
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
  • Hi everyone,
I am a newby on here but have been inspired by all your success stories claiming back mis sold PPI. I have spent ALL day digging out old paperwork on loans and credit cards I have had since 2000.
I am gobsmacked and disgusted with myself to realise the amounts I have paid, some I didn`t realise I had PPI on!!
Like many others I was under the impression I would not be eligble for loans etc without it!
As I am a single, self employed woman, also epileptic, I thought it was a good idea....I tried to claim once years ago as I was off work with depression I was told this was classed as a mental illness and therefore no payout.
I have now used the template and written to :
    Nationwide mortgages
    Nationwide Credit Card
    Black Horse Finance
    Capital One Credit Card
    American Express
    Littlewoods Catalogue.

    Fingers crossed eh?

    Hi,

I'm after a bit of advice regarding reclaiming PPI.

The background is this, my father is 69. He has been self-employed (a very small single-run business) since approximately 1990. He has a business bank account with Barclays.

Out of the blue today he received a letter from Barclays:

"Re: Your Overdraft Payment Protection Policy

We have have recently identified that when your policy was still in force we continued to collect premiums for your Overdraft Payment Protection policy beyond your 65th birthday, based on the DOB held in our records of....."

It then goes on about how they continued to provide cover during the period and that they are willing to consider any retrospective claims that he may have if he was unsure that he was still covered!!

the best bit is at the bottom:

"In recognition of this administrative oversight please find attached a cheque for the sum of £100 as a goodwill payment"

Now as you can imagine my father was happy with this cheque but I just happened to pop in to see him tonight and when he showed me this I saw a big flashing red light!

I just want people to let me know what they think. On further questioning my father doesn't remember ever being informed that he was paying insurance on his overdraft! (He is pretty old school and is more of a "hands on" worker who just let's the "admin" side of his business take care of itself or he uses one of the very helpful Barclays Business Advisors.....)

The "goodwill" cheque smells fishy to me. What should I do?
I am with Barclays, and self employed over 30 years, I don't have overdraft protection but knew I had mortgage protection for 14 years of that time, and in 1999 I tried to claim and was refused. Due to the rules of self employment. I would claim for your father as I doubt they would of paid out as he was self employed. I already have Barclays investigating my mis selling and I have'nt sent the letter yet just mentioned it in the branch.

I have had 2 loans in the last six years, with one I feel I was mis-sold protection, the other, I don't even know if I had protection - but think I did! Stupidly, now both are paid off, when I moved I shredded all the documentation, so I have nothing (including reference or account numbers etc...). Should I write to both companies to get the details, and if so, is there a template letter or can anyone tell me what I need, eg. statements, original agreement, terms and conditions etc...

    Any help would be appreciated!

PS - do I have to include any money for this info to be sent to me?

I am in the same position as this and I managed to get a reference number for the loan from my bank records. They were able to obtain it from my direct debit records. You wont see the reference number on your statement but your bank should have a note of the reference number your loan provider was using to collect your payments(if thats how you paid). Mine was with Direct Line and I sent a letter last week asking for a copy of my agreement and associated paperwork.

I ahve just had a reply from HSBC Card Services saying that the PPI was suitable. They said it was good for anyone working 16 hours or more, which was what i stated in my letter i was not. They also said they may look at it again if I can prove i was a student. Is it worth sending a letter back to them or just move on with the complaint?

    Thanks in advance

OK I need help. I wrote to my bank and complained about the miss selling of my ppi. It was implied that I would not get the loan without it. I got the standard letter back saying that I had recieved the terms and conditions and the details were outlined in the agreement. I stupidly accepted this and didn't take it to the ombudsman. The problem is this was over 6months ago so what do I do? Do I write again to the company despite them already giving me an answer? How can I prove what was said to me when I took out the loan? They have all the paperwork showing I agreed to the PPI. I have nothing to prove they told me I had no choice but to take it if I want the loan.
