OK i send my firts letter on 31/10/07 claiming my ppi from my crecit card and this is wot they said.......

may advise u that a policy document was sent to u when the accoun was registered for ppi and its ur resposibility to decide whether or not the policy is suitable for ur requeriments...... bla bla bla

    some more from the letter........

ppi was set up at your request ( i am boiling now!!!! i never request that " liars") and cover has been available to you. the monthly premiums hae been detailed on each barclaycard statement, wich has given you the opportunity to contact us to query the policy. in the circumstances, no refunds or compesation are due.

so they want a play hard ball with me !!! will see; i am going to send second letter tomorrow and i will keep update the forum !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I beleive I was misold the insurance with Barclaycard. I was 18 wanted a chq book and did not want the credit card. I was pretty much told I had to have a credit card before chq book.

I reluctantly signed for the card, they did tell me the cover was optional, I wrote to them and they said the original paperwork they sent said I could cancel the cover.

Does anyone know where I stand.???

    Do I send another letter??

  • A quick question to the forum, I took out a personal loan with first direct for £12000 back in 2000 whilst serving in the military. I was sold a payment protection policy with unemployment/redundancy cover. As I was serving in the military at that time, knowing that regardless of whether I was 'off work' or not I would still be payed my monthly salary, do I have a case for reclaiming P.P.I?

I am in the same boat as you, i am waiting to see what the outcome is from these money grabbers, shall let you all know when they finally respond:mad:

Have send three letters to Welcome Finance about reclaiming my PPI. First two letters were ignored - they saying in their reply after my third letter that they have only just found my files. Basically they have said they as I signed to accept the PPI I can complaint to the FOS if I wish. I was lead to believe at the time that nmy loan application would be assisted if I took out the insurance. Also I have a pre-existing medical condition which would render the insurance void. Although I signed to say I accepted the insurance and understood it at no time was I asked about my previous medical conditions. I have now had to make a complaint to the FOS but I dont know how I will get on as Welcome Finance have got my signature agreeing to the PPI. Anyone else signed this agreement and if they are making a claim how are you getting on?
  • Hi,

I'm after a bit of advice regarding reclaiming PPI.

The background is this, my father is 69. He has been self-employed (a very small single-run business) since approximately 1990. He has a business bank account with Barclays.

Out of the blue today he received a letter from Barclays:

"Re: Your Overdraft Payment Protection Policy

We have have recently identified that when your policy was still in force we continued to collect premiums for your Overdraft Payment Protection policy beyond your 65th birthday, based on the DOB held in our records of....."

It then goes on about how they continued to provide cover during the period and that they are willing to consider any retrospective claims that he may have if he was unsure that he was still covered!!

the best bit is at the bottom:

"In recognition of this administrative oversight please find attached a cheque for the sum of £100 as a goodwill payment"

Now as you can imagine my father was happy with this cheque but I just happened to pop in to see him tonight and when he showed me this I saw a big flashing red light!

I just want people to let me know what they think. On further questioning my father doesn't remember ever being informed that he was paying insurance on his overdraft! (He is pretty old school and is more of a "hands on" worker who just let's the "admin" side of his business take care of itself or he uses one of the very helpful Barclays Business Advisors.....)

The "goodwill" cheque smells fishy to me. What should I do?
  • Hi all, have had a reply to 2nd letter sent to Endoeavour Personal finance, basically they say that I have to take the whole thing up with HFS loans (now Capital One Homeowner loans) as they were the broker. I decided to call them today to get the address for HFS and to say that I thought they should take responsibilty for the brokers giving out the correct info - plus, on looking at my paperwork I was charged £859 for PPI that I had for the 5 months i had the loan for - i told them I would go straight to the ombusman if HFS told me to direct my query to Endeavour. Can anyone give me advice - who is responsible for the refund? HFS missold the PPI, but Endeavour charged me a stupid amount for a mere 5 month loan???
  • Is there a good answer to the
"it was in the policy documents, it was up to you to read it"
line most lenders seem to be coming back with?
Happy with any wins this year :A
  • I wrote to Lloyds TSB about 2 weeks ago using Martins template. I stated that I felt I had been missold ppi due to staff being pushy and and implying the loan may not be agreed if I didn't get the insurance. I also stated that I tried cancelling the ppi in 2005 by phone. (Which they refused to do at the time. I also do not have the exact date I made the call.).
I took the 5 yr loan out in 2002.
This week I had a reply from Lloyds saying that despite not being able to find any record of my phone call in 2005, they are willing to reimburse my ppi payments for period between 2005 to 2007. This amounts to £300 plus interest. The total payments I have made amount to just over £1000.

I'm amazed they have responded so quickly
and with positive results! But should I accept their offer?

    Thanks.
