I am fairly new to this game so please bear with me.
I sent off a letter to First Direct for a loan that I took out. They have since replied back to me saying that "Having reviewed my complaint, the confirm that they are unable to consider the claim under the Statute of Limitations Act 1980 as the policy was sold more than six years ago."
This account has been passed onto DCA.
Should I still pursue the claim? Should I now write to Financial Ombudsman Service for help?0 -

Stupidly, now both are paid off, when I moved I shredded all the documentation, so I have nothing (including reference or account numbers etc...). Should I write to both companies to get the details, and if so, is there a template letter or can anyone tell me what I need, eg. statements, original agreement, terms and conditions etc...
Any help would be appreciated!
PS - do I have to include any money for this info to be sent to me?
And, has anyone listed the direct addresses which you have to contact the banks or would it be your local branch or even the branch you set the loanup at?
Sorry so many questions!0 -

Beginning to think we need a First Plus thread lol
Think you right, lots of First Plus questions being asked, mind you they seem to be a tough nut to crack. Lets all keep at them.Claimed back almost £4000 so far from HSBC for mis-sold PPI
£2083.00 + £242.00 8% interest from FirstPlus and lower monthly premiums:D Studio Cards paid off my account and gave me £125.00 in gift vouchers. £500.00 Barclays.0 -

Mmmmm well lol - don't know what this means but.. I rang the complaints executive who is dealing with my claim to complain (yes again) about their first decision letter going to our old house - see previous post lol. He actually said they were reviewing the decision given to me 2 weeks ago off their own bat and I would be informed by 20/11/07 - but he couldnt tell me what had happened so far....... my one cell is ticking like the clappers now lol
I'll let you know as soon as I do - depends which address they send it to lmao - if they cant read the address at the top of a one page letter how can I be expected to read all the legal / financial bumf they sent out???????
Back to biting my nails I think :think:Happy with any wins this year :A0 -

Sent my complaint to the FO as they sent me they final decision, I am not having that so like you I will wait and see, although I havn't spoken to them direct mine was done through a broker so I have been dealing with them, although First Plus sent me a lovely letter asking me if I wanted to increase my loan (think not) good luck with yours keep us posted.Claimed back almost £4000 so far from HSBC for mis-sold PPI

I got a ridiculous letter that effectively suggests that, because the PPI included other benefits such as Life Insurance etc. my claim for being mis-sold PPI as I am self-employed did not amount to much.
I know I am strong ground here as I lost my job when self-employed and Egg refused to pay out despite the fact that I successfully claimed unemployment benefit even though, according to Egg, I could have made myself unemployed.
Of course, they can't find any of the calls or letters that I sent them when I was denied the insurance payout so they are sending me off to the Ombudsman. Now I don't mind this route but I know others - particularly during the Bank charges debacle - took their bank to the Small Claims Court and won. Is this the best option or should I get a bigger legal clout from one of the people offering help on the web? Has anyone actually taken this route yet or is it too early in the game?0 -

Hi
Can anyone help,
We took out a 2nd charge loan via the internet broker Loanline. We have since discovered we have an Insurance Policy which we have paid a single premium of over 8500 pounds!!!
As you can imagine we are horriifed and are in the process of claiming the premium back.
We have today received a "Statement of Truth" form to complete.
Does anyone know if this will predijudice our claim, anyone else had one of these forms and MARTIN help??
