Ha! Being translated, that means they hope it's enough to buy you off. They've had your money illegally, and earning interest for them. It would be goodwill on your part just accepting the capital amount!
I appreciate this is easy for me to say, but if they're offering anything, it implies that they're on the back foot. It would help if there was any element of arm-twisting to have the PPI in the first place (which there usually is).0 -

HELP AND ADVICE NEEDED URGENTLY
After watching the tonight programe it prompted me to look at my PPI which I have on a securred loan/mortage I stupidly took out at a reduculous rate. The PPI was over £3K lump sum on the loan so I am paying interest on it throuout the 10 year loan. I was never asked if I had any existing medical conditions at the time and was never told I had the option of finding setting up my owe if preferred. The paperwork came with ithis amount already set out and included. When I actually read the paperwork to my HORROR I realised that the insurance is only for 5 years but my loan is for 10 years and I'm paying interest on this amount throughout the 10 years. Therefor this insurance runs out in May 08. The problem I have is that I have made one claim on the insurance and been declined for two others as pre- exisitng. So my question is do I stand any chance of claiming any of this back or taking it further as being miss sold. If it hadn't have been for the tonight programe after May 08 I would have still continued to think I was covered. Please Help0 -
Could anybody tell me if Morgan Stanley and Monument are part of the companies that have already been fined in respect of PPI? I cannot remember if one (or both) were part of GECB!
I have also had a couple of egg loans over the past 6 years, one of which is still running, I knew about the loan payment protection aspect, but I wasnt told that I was not obliged to take it up, I was under the impression that you had to if you wanted to borrow from them. I have never claimed on it, but I am unsure what to do next - do I send a letter and which bits of the sample letter I should be keeping in ? do I ring and cancel the insurance?
Could someone give me a few words of advice please?0 -
well i got a snotty and patronising letter bck from NEXT
basically acknowledging that have taking PPI from me for years but blaming me for not opting out. Their policy is to take PPI from people unless they opt out - was never ever informed of this otherwise I would have done this. I have never been given any information about the PPI.
Aren't you supposed to sign something to opt in - not for it just to be presumed they can take money off you.
They also whinge that its has taken me until now to complain - thats because I thought it was compulsory and did not realise you could get alternative insurance.
Please could someone advise me what to do next? I just think I am being fobbed off. Is it time to get the FOS involved?0 -
Hi I sent the first letter template to Endeavour Personal Finance last week and received a reply today saying that they were not upholding my complaint:( The reasons they gave were that I used a broker called Capital One homeowner loans and Hamilton insurance. I have no paperwork and absolutley no memory of using this broker!! They said they have finished investigating my complaint but if I want to take it further contact them. I am really not happy with the response as they are basically being slopey shouldered - I am unsure what to do - do I write back to them?0

Hi Doozie
Thanks for your post. I just glad someone could give me some figures to be looking at. I have tried to work it out but failed miserably! I tried to use the table in the newsletter but because the figures don't match mine I struggled.
The only thing is if they make me an offer how do I know if it is the correct amount?
I let you know how I go on and hopefully it will be a success story.0
