  • Hi,

who was the lender that agreed to the repayment of the ppi and interest? and how long ago had the loan been repaid?
just out of interest. i have been refused my request on grounds of 'time barred'

it good to know some lenders out there have morels and are interested in showing good will to their customers.

    congratulations

Firstly can I say thanks to Martin et.al. for making this ppi re-claiming business easier to understand.
My situation is pretty mangled, basically my ex and I took out a secured load with first plus, ex and I spolit up and he was unable to make any financial help to me so I was left paying all the bills. Of course could not affor this so I made an agreement with first plus that I would pay part payment each month. After lots of sols letters back and forth it ended up that I would remortgage the house and pay off the first plus loan and ex would sign the house to me.
The original loan was for 25k with 5k ppi lumped on top. I had a letter from first plus saying to repay I would have to pay 30k unfortunately the remortgage took another 3 months to complete and first plus said I owed 40k instead. The thing I am really not happy about is that I repaid the loan early yet was not offered a refund for the ppi even tho it was paid off early.
I don't have any of the original paperwork so I don't know who the ppi was with, going to ring first plus tomorrow and ask if they can send me copies of the paperwork, I hope they still have it as I paid the loan off in 2003.
If anyone has been in a similar situation I would appriciate any advise. Fingers crossed.
    2008 won £5119.04 :j
    2009 won so far £0:rotfl:
    All together now..........

  • Well what can I say, after feeling that maybe I would get somewhere after reading many sucess stories regarding HSBC, I have drawn a blank, even though I needed to be employed for 16 hours a week in order to have the PPI and I was only contracted to 10 hours per week and the sales lady told me to say that I did overtime which I sometimes did but not always, it was never always possible, I feel very strongly that I was mis-sold I would never have been able to claim if crunch came to crunch. I remember her saying that unless I worked 16 hours I would not qualify for PPI, yet they say hard luck loan is now settled and that is it. I have banked with these for more than 20 years and I feel very cheated by this as I felt I had a very strong case. I suppose I put it down to experience even though it was a bad one. Followed everything to the book as stated on this site guess I was just one of the unlucky ones.
Claimed back almost £4000 so far from HSBC for mis-sold PPI
£2083.00 + £242.00 8% interest from FirstPlus and lower monthly premiums:D Studio Cards paid off my account and gave me £125.00 in gift vouchers. £500.00 Barclays.
  • all paperwork is from Endeavour - absolutley no mention of anyone else - I have it all here! Paid back about 2 years ago
  • Hi everyone, just thought I would let you know about Egg and make you aware of what's happened to us

I pulled off our Experian Credit reports (just to make sure we were claiming off everyone for PPI's), with my partners report I saw Egg appearing on several occassions on loans taken out only for a year then renewed

I asked my partner about this, he said on the first anniversary of every loan he took out with Egg, he would get a letter from Egg saying "fancy a top up" stating that his old loan was for example 9.0% but their new fantastic one was 7.2%

The truth of the matter is for the past 4 years all he has done is paid Egg off FOUR seperate PPI's amounting to around £5,000 he has never paid off a single penny from the amount borrowed .... ok seems foolish now, but you tend to trust companies like Egg ... its no wonder that out of the £150 million Egg made last year £52 million in profits came from PPI's

Perhaps they should change their TV advertising and "ditch" the guniea pigs, change them to Hamsters, cause once Egg gets you in their "cage" they put you on the wheel and you arn't going anywhere

We will let you know if we get anything back off them

    Good luck all

    Hi Doozie

Thanks for your post. I just glad someone could give me some figures to be looking at. I have tried to work it out but failed miserably! I tried to use the table in the newsletter but because the figures don't match mine I struggled.
The only thing is if they make me an offer how do I know if it is the correct amount?
I let you know how I go on and hopefully it will be a success story.

    Hi Tommy 5 Bellies,

I had a similar problem in that I am happy to send the letter but how do I know if what they offer (if they do) is reasonable. Someone in work worked out the figures for me. If you put your figures up I could ask them to work out yours (approx).

This is a Fob-Off letter. I had the EXACT same one from them down to the very last word. I suspect from what I have read and researched that they are correct regarding the FOS not having jurisdiction over this and I have appealed to MSE team to help us find out who does so fingers crossed.

I am exceptionally angry about DAF and YCC and will be taking them to court over this if I cannot find out who regulated them to deal with it amicably as they did exactly the same thing to me and 1000's of other customers over telling me the PPI was compulsory which as far as I am concerned is immoral and fraudulent.

Good luck and keep us posted :)[/quo

HI there ive just started the same, so would be really grateful if you could let me know how you get on.
    many thanks

  • Can anyone please help with my question. I have a Debenhams Store card which had PPI (now cancelled by myself). I have had it for about three years and have been self-employed all this time. I want to reclaime payments back as I am sure I was mis-sold. Will Debenhams close my account if I co this? I find it very useful as I am self-employed and sometimes clients are slow to pay my invoices so it helps.

    Thanks in advance

My response from Crapone today said that the PPI was sold over the phone in September 2001. Standard letter then goes on to say, "we are required to ensure that our telephone scripting is clear, fair and not misleading blah blah blah.

Can I ask for proof of transcript and that this was asked for with a CCA?
