After being on this site yesterday I realised we took out a loan with Yorkshire Bank that definately had PPI and a loan with Lloyds TSB that I think had PPI, trouble is the loans were rolled into the First Plus one I have just claimed back and I don't have the original paperwork, I sort of know the dates but what sort of letter do I write to start the ball rolling or would you not bother? There were several old credit cards we had too that we don't remember anyone else as daft as us and can't remember??!!
  • well after speaking to barclays yesterday morning they said we are not entitled to claim back any ppi of a loan we repaid in2005 we could have cancelled bla bla bla there is nothing we can do i said i will write to the ombudsman she said fine she was quit rude.also they could not find the paperwork to the loan low and behold i had a letter from barclays this morning saying we had phoned them yesterday please accept my apologies for the trouble and inconvenienceyou have been caused if you would like to discuss further to phone him if we are unable to agree a way forward you may beable to ask the ombudsman service to review your complaint we will help if you wish to do this however,i hope we can resolve matters before you take this step. so having phoned them they said they will contact me in the next few days hopefuly with a refund will keep you posted

Make sure you complain about how the original staff member dealt with it sounds like they are running scared!

I took a loan with hsbc in 99, paid it off in 04 and have successfully reclaimed my ppi. You should be able to aswell.
  • well my letter has been sent...

stating ppi misold as wasn't aware was for 5years not loan term.

however i have been thinking and also realised that we told them that we both get good sick pay packages through work, and also death benefits, and they even agreed that our sickness pay is good.... so why the hell did they sell ppi for £7000 for 5 years????!!!

surely thats another route i could go down for the grounds of miselling???

    Hi
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Early in 2006 my wife an I took out a secured loan on our home for £30000 with Paragon personal finance.

At the time we were told we couldnt have it without the PPI which came in at £10000 on top the loan.

We repaid the loan late 2006 in full including the ppi and the final payment was £39345.99.

Can I claim for the £10000 ppi back in full? What would you suggest I cite as the reason?

    Cheers in advance

I also took a loan out with Paragon a couple of years ago and now I'm in the process of moving house and repaying the loan I realise that I am now being asked to pay back approx £10k more than the loan value that I original had which is outrageous - I guess most of this is down to the PPI.

Thanks for this post as I thought that they said that I needed to take out the PPI but I couldn't remember and thought that this might count against me. I'm going to get my letter in the post tonight!

That was the grounds mine paid out on, that we had other adequate cover in place.
  • Hi, I took out a loan in 2004 with Barclays bank. I believe I was mis-sold the insurance as I was told that I couldn't take out the loan without it. Also I had to take early retirement through ill health and receive a monthly local authority pension. I can't find my original insurance details so I don't know if I was covered for employment or sickness but nothing was mentioned at the time I took the loan out. I have since read the small print on the loan agreement and it seems I could have cancelled the insurance within the first month, do I still have a good case? Do I write directly to the local branch or to the head office.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received,

    thanks, bri

I think all insurance policies have a right to cancel the point of PPI claiming is that you were under the impression you were covered for things that later you were not, or you did not realise it was optional or you were put under pressure.

Just to update and hopefully get some more advice.

Sent letter off to Paragon on Friday and received speedy response today.

Basically the say that Central Capital were the brokers for the loan and they dealt with all the paperwork so I cannot claim from paragon.

Where do I go from here? Do I persue with Paragon or Central capital.

I would really appreciate any advice as I am very unsure about what to do next.

    Cheers
