Hi Andy if the PPI insurance does not cover you if you are self employed then surely it has been mis-sold? Check the policy some do cover if you are self employed.

I dont understand why they wont let you cancel the PPI as if it does not cover self employment then you are paying for something that is useless

    Hi,

Last week I sent off the second letter for reclaiming PPI on an Argos Store Card. This morning (out of the blue) I have just had a rather scary lady on the phone, telling me she had received my letter, and was calling to "discuss". She bascially says they are not going to refund and will put a letter in the post confirming this. I told her I would take the matter further. She hung up.

Has anyone else has scary people calling them up?

    Exactly

    If you think about it
You initially only wanted eg 50,000
they then ask you to borrow more to put in their pocket e.g 10,000 (PPI)
which then you start paying it off monthly
which you could have just organised a monthly insurance which would cost you less than the payments for their single premium( if only we knew at the time)
and you would nt be stung with having to pay off the Single premium lump sum.
but at the time You are so stressed you think that they are not diddling you and making you borrow more money on their behalf.

so I think a single premium policy is useless and a costly bill we cant afford and shouldnt be sold to us by any company.

I am now getting off my soapbox!!:EasterBun

And to make matters worse I checked with Ant insurance and I could have got cover for this loan Sickness and Unemployment for less than £6 a month, no borrowing any extra. I should think most people that go to Firstplus are the same as me, struggling financially and wanting to sort out their finances, they just take this oppourtunity to rob us and make things worse while the FOS/FSA just seem to let it happen!! off my soapbox as well now

If anyone rings refuse to discuss the matter, they wil try to intimidate you and maybe say the wrong thing jepardising your case, all matters relating to your case should be done in writing so you both ahave proof and can reflect on what you want to say without emotions clouding the issue.

We are so not comfortable with complaining are we and they know it.
    :T

Thats why we must all complain so that the FOS will report to the FSA
so they can stop these companies and slap their hands so we shouldnt have to take the companies to court.
thats what they are there for to make the companies abide by their rules.if the FOS/FSA dont know these companies are giving us a rough deal then the FOS/FSA cant do and wont do anything about it.

  • I had taken out a loan with Paragon finance with Greenhill finance (loans.co.uk) as the broker, I wrote to Paragon because the loan was paid of after a very short time. I received a letter from Paragon within days saying that this was none of their fault (even though they were the ones who gave the loan including single premium insurance) and that the letter would be their "final response on the matter" and that I should contact Greenhill.
    Is this correct??
  • I am unsure about this whole thing, I am unfortunately and embarrassingly over cautious a lot! I think I was mis sold the insurance for my loan as I was not told they would be adding more to my loan to pay the policy rather than paying for the policy direct (Does that make sense?).

    Hi
are you saying you thought it was a monthly insurance not a single premium policy.

use the 1st step template letter and send it to them to see what they have to say, stating you thought the insurance was not an amount added to the loan.
you might be lucky and they may refund you it.
read through the first section on being missold what martin has set up.

    good luck

I would strongly advise that you should seek redress from the lender not the broker. It is the lender who has arranged the cover with the insurance company, not the broker.

However, I have since seen the light.
