Natwest are having none of it - they wrote saying at the time i had 30 days to cancel etc, i replied saying they hadn't addressed my original complaint and they have now replied saying:

Thank ypou for you letter dated 12th march, and i am sorry that you do not agree with the bank's decision in respect of your ppi claim.

There is little more i can add to my letter dated 6th march and i can only reiterate that i do not agree that the policy is unsuitable and am not is a postion to accept your complaint.

as perviously stated you can take this to the financial ombusman service.

    regards

    Now what do i do?

Hi Kitty have just read the letter and although its seems nice that they've added a nice personel touch at no point does this say that this is the position of Natwest on the matter or that this is the final response. I would send one more letter just to ensure that there is no wriggle room on the side. Enclose a copy of the letter and then send the following:

I enclose the following letter for verification in reference to my complaint dated xxxxxx. I would like clarification on two points:

    1. That you have registered my complaint and you have followed all your required procedures for investigating the compliant fully and to your upmost.

    2. That this is indeed Natwest final decision on the matter and not this particular individuals.

I on recept of this response If I am still not satisfied that either my complaint has been properly investigated or that Natwest have not deemed that my complaint is valid I WILL be taking the matter further. I have yet to make a decision of whether to take the matter to FOS/Court and am still receiving legal advice on which route to take to ensure complete closure of this complaint. If i have not received a reply from yourself's in 14 days then i will consider that this is Natwest's final response and the person's sending the foremention letter was acting in the full interest's of Natwest and with full authority to do so, and will take appropriate action.

    Yours sincerely

    Kitty

  • Help Please!!

Lloyds have agreed to pay back on 2 PPI's that I have with them on 2 loans that are still active. In their letter they say that they will pay the credit against the loans and cancel the PPI. They also say that the loans will therefore finish earlier but that the monthly payments will remain the same otherwise the loans would have to be refinanced.

Please can somebody tell me if I am able to ask for the refund to be paid directly in to my bank account rather than against the balance of the loans? The loans will be finished early next year but a lump sum now would help me out with clearing other more expensive debts. Help Please!!!
Lloyds (Bank a/c) £2101.76 :jCapital One claiming £933.17 inc interest Halifax Card claiming £1143.75 inc. interest - £450 accepted as part payment only
    Mint (RBS) £60 - accepted £25.85:j

A refund doesn't have to be against the loans that you have outstanding you have the right to ask for a cheque straight into you hand for the mis sold PPI for you to disperse as you see fit. If they have made a mistake and therefore agree which is what they have done (Hope you got a letter of confirmation) then its up to you to tell them that its up to them to restructure the loan to ensure that the element of PPI has been removed and any overpayments that you have already made are correctly calculated. This doesn't require you to either consolidate or arrange a new loan as its their mistake. Inform them if they don't comply (this is based on you having the letter) then you will be contacting the FOS with the complaint stating that the LLoyd's were attempting to force you into a situation which is unfair and unjustified when they have already admitted guilt.

They may be part of the Royal Bank of Scotland group now but really it doesn't matter as they can try and confuse the issue as much as possible. Just send it too the say place you sent the others and wait and see. If you do raise the court case do it against the Natwest as the RBOS might claim it has nothing to do with them as they weren't together when you took the loan.

Ok thanks hun - letter all done and ready to be posted!!!
Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.
  • I sent a letter to DFS yesterday to claim mis-sold ppi, just had phone call of lady at head office trying to fob me off,she is going to ring me back later.
  • I took out an Egg loan in 2003 for £15,000 to which they added £1,203.30 PPI. Total £16,203.30 over 6 years. The loan was consolidated into another one in 2005 and after 23 payments. The balance then stood at £12,028.63. They then added 'PPI Removal and Credit' £538.46 to the loan and the total then was £11,490.17.
    I complained after recieving my DSIR that I was misold the PPI as didn't need it due to working for the NHS and having a good sickness package and also that I didn't know that I even had it. They have written back telling me about the rule of 78 and that they have closed the complaint. My questions to you knowledgable people are;
Do i have a case here to continue to press on with the misselling, in the light that paid back what they say was the remaining PPI into the loan?
I don't know if I'm wrong, but my view is that they should recalculate the loan payments made as if the PPI had not been added. I would appreciate your help guys. Thanks in advance.
