Everyone,
Just to alert you to individuals that promise to assist you, take your details and then disappear off the face of the earth. I met one of these on this site - never gained anything other than my email address, perhaps stupidly scanned and sent agreement details and have heard very little since. The company I'm claiming the PPI off have not heard from anyone either - in any event I would need to sign authority for a third party and didn't - SO BE WARNED AND BE CAREFUL.
If you would like to know who this was I'm happy to tell you privately.
I am afraid I have to put my hands up to this one. Trying to do too much sadly and not rechecking my emails. therefore I humbly apologise for not dealing with this issue promptly.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.
However, I have since seen the light.0 -

Hi there,
Really hope that someone out there can help, I am trying to reclaim PPI from a current Barclays loan.
Got a letter from them today saying that they will cancel my PPI and give me just over 3k payback, but if I want this then i need to re-apply for the loan to do it without PPI and they then said that they wouldn't offer me the credit, so basically if i want the money back i need to pay the loan off.
Can someone tell me if they can do this or not?
Thanks

Wow I've just stumbled across this!
I've got a loan with Alliance & Leicester that I've had since 2006 and a credit card with Capital One that I've had since 2005, both with PPI attached.
I'm looking top tighten up my finances and was wondering if I could cancel both PPI policies? Would I have any chance of claiming previously paid money back?
That would be a welcome surprise!
Many thanks for your help.0 -
Hello all, any advive would be welcome!
Had a loan with Citifinancial back in 2005, queried the ppi with them and they sent a letter with the usual response. However, I only recieved this letter by email, as the original letter that included copies of all the account paperwork never got to me. Have been chasing them for ages requesting the copies of the account details, but every time they seem to delay sending it to me( this has been going on since november!!). Reading between the lines, I get the feeling that they have lost my paperwork and they are stalling. Any advice welcome!!0 -
Hi
I could really use a bit of advice. One PPI I am trying to reclaim is from DFS. I bought sofas in 2000 and finished paying in 2003. Done all the letters and sent forms to FOS. FOS tells me DFS were not regulated by them at that time (cant find out who they were regulated by). I want to take them to court and although I have the original paperwork, I do not have T&C. The amount is only £240 and it was a long time ago but it is my money and I cannot believe I have been conned out of it so really want to fight to get it back!!!!
I am a partner in a business with staff so have an income whether I go to work or not and would never have opted for PPI as payment was only £46 per month so was unaware of having it.
Sorry it is so long winded, but does anyone have an opinion on whether taking DFS to court would have a prospect of success?
Thanks x
Okay - good news!! I know this is the Discussion Thread and not the Success Thread - but I thought you may be interested.
DFS have agreed to pay me full amount of PPI (£337.75) + 8% interest/pa (£198.60) + court costs (£60) . I received letter today and phoned to confirm. They promised to send out cheque for full amount.
Details leading up to success: Wrote to Nova Finance x 2 with no response. Wrote to DFS x 1. They replied by phone - saying No, so I asked for written confirmation of their 'No'. Once I had it I filed a MCOL claim (I was confident of my case) - they responded (today) which is the last working day before their 'acknowledgement of claim' period runs out. The letter agrees to pay full amount - what I find amazing is it is full acceptance - no Without Prejudice or Goodwill Gesture - just a straight offer. They are a bit sneaky - the letter was dated 6th March - summons was issued on 3rd March - so they basically agreed to pay out as soon as they received the summons, however, they kept the letter until now (their time is up on 22nd - Saturday).
Hope this helps!! This is my first PPI Success - so I am quite excited at the moment.

Firstplus
Today Firstplus have offered me a refund of £2,794.87 on my PPI premium, according to them this is 78% pro rata on my premium, the details of the loan are as follows
Loan taken out in Jan 2006 for £35,000.00
Insurance added of £8,571.50
Monthly payments made to Firstplus totalling £7,663.81
Loan replaid in Feb 2008 at a cost of £41,216.38
Can someone tell me what the FSA/FOS state as a fair rebate? If I was to take this money could I still continue chasing them for unfairly selling me the insurance? Has anyone handed their case over to a company such as Loanchecker and if so were the results favourable? Any advice would be gratefully recieved, thanks, Richard.0 -

I do have a question and apologises in advance as it is a silly question. I took out several store cards years and years ago (all with GE Money) and have only just looked at the statements properlyand i have noticed that there is "Account cover @ 150 pence per £100 bal" on it..does this mean that I am paying an insurance as this was never mentioned to me over the years and as I am not working(havent been for 5 years) am I right in thinking this policy is no longer of any use to me and therefore should cancel it straight away and do i have a case for reclaiming ?
I currently have a mothercare and bhs store card although just paid them off this month. Although in the past i have had most stores store card and never even realised that they were adding an account cover, nothing was said when they filled the forms in at the sales desk and they went out of their way to get you to sign up to a store card.
Can anyone advise?
thanks in advance
Hi,
Just received reply from GE money, trying to reclaim account cover on my Dorothy Perkins card from 3rd March 2000. My complaint being I was actually unemployed at this time and wasn't asked about my circumstances.
They are asking for proof that I was unemployed at the time and are also saying if my husband was working at the time then I would have still been covered.
Surely this isn't right as its my name thats on the card and my signature on the application form.
Do you think its worth me continuing with this as my husband was working at the time, or do think their just trying to put me off.
Any advice, would be most grateful.
Thanx0 -
Hi pureskint,
I think my wife has just received an identical letter to yours only they are also asking for proof of her pre-existing medical condition!! We asked them during our last letter to provide a transcript of the telephone conversation where, they alledge, that their salesperson "fully explained the policy details and she accepted it" as I believe that the onus is on the seller to prove that it was fairly sold, we have not had this yet, only the request for the afore mentioned information. I am not sure if they are entitled to this info (personal medical notes) perhaps m colak (or anyone else) can advise on this and our next move.
Perhaps I should ask for £10 for the info
Any advice0
