That is absolutely disgusting, you should be able to have an insurance policy that actually pays out when you need it,it seems it doesn`t pay to be honest with these people either which is what you have been.Does it definately say in your policy details about being on job seekers allowance?I really can`t see what this has to do with them.Have you checked your policy?Sounds ludricous...No wonder your fuming,so am I:mad:

It is so frustrating, in my policy it states that the definition of unemployment is not in employment and claiming job seekers allowance. I really don't plan on claiming JSA for 180 days! I'm gonna sort the letter and send it tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed. I'll keep you posted.

    Hi,
Plase can someone advise me if i have a case for mis selling here.
I got a loan out with black horse in my name only. i was pressured into agreeing to the PPI with the salesperson telling me, no PPI, no loan. I got the loan in march 05, paid it off in Nov 05. I have recently got hold of the agreement & noticed that although the loan is in my sole name, the PPI is in my husbands name, even thought he wasn't even present when i signed for the loan. How the hell would that have worked had i needed to claim on PPI? I am fuming about this, as well as their bully boy tactics. I have written to them a few times & though i've had letters saying 'get lost', we are not paying you out, they have never actually addressed my question or provided an explaination as to how i would have stood if i'd have had to claim. Am in the process of filling in forms to take to the FOS, see if they can get any answers. What do any of you guys reckon on this, would i have been able to claim or not? Thanks.

Before I go through mounds of documents to check exact details I wonder if anyone has any advice.

About the middle of 2000 I took out 4 year car finance for 8,000. Later on in the year we needed some more money for house improvements and to pay off the credit card.

I went to our mortgage provider with whom we also had a joint current account that only my salary was paid into. I asked for 10,000, but was told that if I got 18,000, I could pay off the car loan at a lower rate of interest.
This seemed OK, so I agreed to a secured loan over 10 years. I know I did not want PPI, because I was the main wage earner and had a decent sick pay scheme and death in service, plus a hefty life insurance policy for each of us as we had two young children.

Anyway the forms were sent to me to sign and I noticed PPI was included. I thought it must be because it was a secured loan, so reluctantly signed the agreement.

After about 18 months my husband was made redundant after about 7 years in his job and got statutory redundancy pay. He was out of work for 9 months and when we were looking through some documents we found the agreement and noticed that it was in joint names and his was the first name, and thought this might mean we were covered for the payments that we had already made.

We made a claim and had to provide all the forms, a letter from his previous employer, JSA payments etc. and the money was paid directly to the lender even though we had already made the payments. I thought our remaining payments might be reduced , but they were not.

We have continued to pay this insurance for the last 5 years but we would not have been able to claim for another period of unemployment (presumably the 3 months remaining of the 12) as my husband was only doing agency work.

I know it is too late now, but should or could we have cancelled after claiming as it has been no use to us since then?

Hi i have one of these policies with EPF - the direct debit comes out of my account then the insurance company pay them and they refund it to me, perhaps you should write to the loan company saying it has been double paid for those months and that you would like that refunded

Other people have had succesful claims against egg. I would be very dubious against any company whom carry out this work as they often are too good to be true. You will probably find that they will add their costs to your claim and therefore cause the company to fight harder. Sometimes it's just easier to go it alone and in most case's it's more beneficial and satifying knowing you dealt with the problem personally rather than palm it off. The major point to look at here is no win NO FEE. So what they are saying is that they will claim their pound of flesh from you.
