    Hi all,

I'm after some help in calculating how much refund I can expect for 3 separate single premium loans I had with the Halifax that I paid off early. I've already sent my first letter 14th Jan and they wrote back saying I would have a response by 14th March.

Here are my figures for the most recent loan

    Loan amount £10000
    Loan Charge £3954.92
    Insurance loan £2698.20
    Insurance Charge £1007.88
    Interest Rate on loan 9.9%
    Number of Payments 84
When you took it out 08/2003
Regular Payment Amount (full amount) £210.25
    Final Settlement figure £9597.81
    Date of settlement 01/2005

How do I calculate how much refund I may get?

Many thanks for any advice :)

Ok mate the problem here is the stipulation that you can only claim charges within the six years or PPI if the loan product was still going within six years ago. If this is the case and the loan was still active then yes they have to retain the paperwork as although the initial loan was over six years ago it didn't complete until within six years and therefore is still bound by the law. If they can't/won't provide the documentation that you have requested get them to admit it in a letter as this is more evidence in your favour as they can't prove what you say isn't correct. LTSB can say that they will not correspond with you however any requests for information still come under the duristiction of the Information Comissioner. Worst case tell the FOS that you would appreciate copies of all documentation that is received from the LTSB relating to your case as LTSB are unwilling to provide you with said documentation and therefore currently you have no overall picture of developments.

Mcolak, thanks you are a star.

Both LPI's ran til 2003/2004 ( even though the first should have finished in 99 ) so yes both within 6 years. Is there a law i can quote stating that they have to hold documents for 6 years as LTSB are saying their own law is that it is 3 years from date of signing??

    Also DAYNURSE;

As a very long wild stab in the dark, I have emailed the MD of LTSB insurance this morning. I expalined v.briefly the situ and asked him to listen to all the calls made to and by me to LTSB as no other customer should get treated or spoken to the way I have. Lets hope if nothing else, the people involved are taught that a case handling job does not make them GOD!!

Firstly, it shouldnt affect your credit score. Secondly these people are lenders, therefore, would rip your arm off to give you more money and charge you interest on it!! Just make sure theres no PPI this time!! ;-)

Can anyone tell me if recaiming your PPPI has any effect on your credit score?

We have just successfuly reclaimed PPI from A&L. They have rescheduled the loan, basically giving us another loan for the remaining months at the original interest rate.

I wondered if when they set up this new loan, they woud do a credit check, as this will have left a footprint?

We may be looking for another loan for a vehice in the next few months and it would be helpful to know if this footprint has been left beforehand.

Also, what do you think our chances are of A&L giving us another loan? Is it worth asking them if we can refinance the existing loan, and hopefully get the same rate?

Or is that being a bit to cheeky?:o

    Guys,

If anyone has gone to FOS can you please update the Fos time scales thread that I have started.

Lots of questions have been asked about how long it takes, so if you could all record it there, it would give everyone more of an idea what kind of time frames we are looking at!!!

Hope this will be of use to people!!

    L xx
