I received a letter from Northern Rock stating they would refund my premiums plus interest. This was 23rd January. Had no figures mentioned or details of how or when they will get this refund to me.

HI SIAN I Have had the same got my recording and my interpretation differs to theres they say i agreed yes i did, certainly write back do you want to continue paying for the ppi?? you can cancel if thats what you want the rebate they will come back with will be no where near what expected. however you can persue the unfair rebate dont let them put you off ask for the tape if id have took there word for it and believed them i would have been no wiser I could tell by my tone on the recording that i felt backed in a corner and there was other issues regarding the sick pay i recieve therefore the insurance was inapropriate they may come back with the same answer
and refuse then i will go to the ombusman good luck
Many Thanks for the reply. am just about to draft my second letter and will ask for a copy of the recording, and add a couple of things i have only just found out about (continuation of payments after end of ppi and not being told i was not covered by the ppi) should i now ask for them to terminate my ppi contact? will they let me? and will they then take the ppi amount (in my case over £100 a month)off the loan monthly payment? I'm really unsure about that part.0 -
Can anyone advise!
Sent second letter to HSBC, almost 3 weeks ago giving them 14 days to reply. Still have not received any answers! Can anyone advise what would be better, 1) to send 3rd letter with enclosed copy of 2nd letter as a reminder; 2) go straight to FSO? I realise that their lack of response is probably a stalling tactic, but don't know how best to move the situation forwards from now.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!0 -
still not having much luck at the moment ,running out of hope now that Ill be able to get some of my hard earned cash back off any of these companies. I contacted the fsa and they told me about a ruling that was drawn up in January 2005 that these companies had to adhere to regarding ppi insurance but as my loan was set up in september 2003 i may not have any luck with it is this true ,as i said my loan was set up in sep 2003 over 15 years for a large sum of £40,000 on the 16th of June 2006 i settled my loan off early and had to pay a massive early settlement figure of £49,647.38 they had the ppi refund down as £503.93 I am still disgusted at having to pay all that but had no choice at the time i am merely looking to get a bigger refund on the ppi refund is ther anyone out there that can offer any advice on how to go about this as the last letter i received from loanline basically just said we signed the contract so its our own fault if we didnt understand it .Also this loan ran concurrently alonside our mortgage at a higher interest rate we were not given any advice whatsoever from these companies.0

This FSA stuff is a pain and on the face of it has given the lenders a get out clause. I did say, on the face of it as there are issues here that they cannot get out of. Dont be put off by this stuff. Most of it is bluff and can be overcome.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.
However, I have since seen the light.0 -
Thanks Peter do you have any advice on the next step I should take to try and recover some of these funds as i feel totally ripped off by the whole matter.0

I am sure you do. The simple truth is that you probably have been. I will gladly assist where I can. You did not say who the lender is. That is quite important. PPI is just one issue and very rarely should be claimed on its own. There are usually a few things you can hit them with that makes the ppi quite insignificant.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

peter, LTSB have refused my claim on the ground of time frame. I have taken it to the FOS but LTSB are disputing with the FOS that they can deal on the same grounds. Also, when i refinanced in 99 ( 12 months into a 60 month agreement ) LTSB have confirmed that they have no evidence at all that a refund was given, however they are sure it would have been as this is procedure. Am so confused with everything now and dont know where to turn!0

 .......so in the end i decided to send a letter to firstplus asking them to reconsider their offer to include interest (I even worked it out for them!).
Their prompt reply was basically ' sod off, the final offer is final!'
Oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained & hubby still giving me a hard time for holding out!
Trouble is, i'm getting more & more angry with firstplus!
The 22% being held back for 'provision of claims & administration costs' is a mystery to me! They had already charged me £150 administration fee on settlement of my loan.......& what on earth are provision of claims ??! I didn't make any claims on the policy? Maybe i'm just being dim & someone (expert)can explain this to me. Have given in to my 'no phone calls, everything in writing' rule & phoned firstplus this morning!
Surprise, surprise, I had to leave a message as no one was available to take my call. I had to bite my lip & refrain from saying 'I realise how busy your complaints department must be'!:rotfl:
God! i wish someone could have their day in court with them;) but i know it won't be me as i am slowly losing the will to live!0
