when did you take put the PPI - if it's prior to 15th January 2005 it's unlikely GE came under the jurisdiction of the FOS so your only recourse would be the County Court - threatening them with the FOS has no impact as they know exactly when they came under their jurisdiction

I took out Storecard (house of fraser) with GE Money and FOS couldnt help me as I signed up for it as a student in 1999!!! Have now complained to the FLA www.fla.org.uk and they are looking in to it,so will let you know outcome!

To all people who have successfully reclaimed against the catalogue companies could anyone please give me some advice. Have been with littlewoods for several years and have always been charged advantage extra care but don't know what it is so just wondered if anyone knew if it was the same as ppi. Have emailed them to ask why I pay for it but have had no response. Would be really grateful but please be gentle as a newbie

    Hi

I emailed my catalogue company and got a reply 2 days later with a refund, hope you have success
  • Just recieved this reply from EGG on the secure messaging system

    Thanks for your message.

I've looked on both your Egg Card and Egg Money account applications and card repayment protection is clearly shown as taken out at application stage.

You had access to your online account 24 hours a day and it was your responsibility to check you account regularly to make sure everything is in order.

As these charges have been applied to your accounts correctly I'm unable to offer a refund.

Please feel free to contact me again.

I have the agreements and there is no mention of PPI on them. They did not send me any application forms with the DSIR. Should I email her back and ask her for them or should I just go ahead with the second letter and give them a further 14 days for their final response. Not sure whether to go FOS or the court route?? I've also read about some people using Money Claim- Can anyone explain what this is please?
    Thank you
  • thankyou tiggrae!

    Hi all,

A quick update on my complaint. Phoned First Plus just before I was about to send off my complaint to the FOS just to clarify that I had received their final response due to them not replying to my second or third letter. I was told by their 'call centre hen' that my complaint had been reopened on the 7th January!!! (This was after I sent my third letter threatening them with court action!) He went on to say that they had sent me a confirmation letter about this and that they were reviewing the case. I told him that I never received the said letter and wanted to know what was happening. He said that he couldn't tell me because it wasn't his department:rotfl: and he couldn't access the "complaints department" computer as it was closed!!! I made a joke about making them work overtime because of the high number of complaints they must be receiving!!!:rotfl: Anyway, he agreed to leave a note for the complaints department and for them to contact me tomorrow via email. I've held back sending my letter to the FOS to see what happens.

    I'll keep everyone posted!!!

You really should be doing everything in writing. More proof if/when you go to court/FOS. Just my 0.02p.

My husband and I took out a secured laon with Picture Financial last march. We took the PPI protection as the loan was rather large and we knew we would not be able to pay the monthly premium if either of us were ill, unemployed or dead!!! This PPI worked out at around £22000 on top of our loan. A single premium added on. The PPi was for five years although we have now found out that we will pay interest on this for the 25 year loan term. The added carrot was if we did not claim or fall into arrears with the payments we would receive a no claims bonus of half the total premium spread over three years with the first payment of around £5000 three years after the start of the loan.
Unfortunatly I have just found out that through ill health I am no longer able to work and am now off work permenantly. We decided to put a claim in through the PPi as we will not be able to meet the payments.
I called Picture to request a claim form and was told that as I was named second on the agreement I could not claim for ill health benefit and the only thing I colud claim for was death. We were not aware of this and are now up the creek without a paddle. I have wrote to Picture using the template from this site as I am certain we were mis sold the policy. Can anyone help? Thanks.

finally got hold of someone today at FP they have confirmed that a letter has been sent out this pm offerring me a enhanced rebate of 78% ( the recordings i requested are also in the same envelope)however they say this will be deducted off my loan I dont see why this should be ive spoke to a gentleman at the ombusman this afternoon he said he doesnt think they have to make you do that (thinks?? he wasnt 100%) TIGGRAE can you confirm this
also once I have listened to the recordings and i am 100% sure i can say they missold what would happen if i write back and say i want the whole policy back plus 8% interest If they say no do i loose out on the 78% offer
The rebate is a seperate issue as i have cancelled my policy would i be able to for example accept the offer and proceed with claiming the difference on the misselling I am hoping to settle this loan soon but am furious that they want to take it off the loan as said by others in previous posts the policy is paid for now front loaded therefore why should i not have the refund
I am unsure what to do next they deny misselling obviously they would but i need to hear the tape as the letter states we agreed to the policy it was explained fully twice over!! difficult one HELP any ideas guys????????????????
  • Hi again

Don't forget that if you haven't started your PPI reclaim yet, want to find out more about what is involved and are willing to appear on Martin's new TV programme, It Pays To Watch, please read this post.

We haven't had much of a response so far and i am sure there are loads of people out there on the cusp of starting their reclaim. You would be helping us to pass the message to as many people as possible about how to reclaim PPI.

    Thanks

    Wendy

28 FEB - casetuides no longer needed thanks guys as the programme was on last night. Hope you like the programme if you watched it :)
