  • Hi all,

Just an update...Have recieved a reply from Halifax,re PPI.

It`s just a curtesy letter really, thanking me for my recent letter :rotfl: They are sorry to hear of my concerns regarding the insurance applied to my loan, and that they are keen to deal with my concerns as quickly as possible  a Customer Relations Manager will investigate the points raised and I will receive a copy shortly, but certainly no later than four weeks..

Anyone else dealing with Halifax at the mo or in the past?
The Grass may look greener :o but it`s always going to take just as much mowing ;)

Something I have only just realised..... which goes to show we had no idea we even had PPI (until all the press about it and the wonderful Martin)
My husband was off work for 7 months last year very ill and we did not claim (because, stupidly we didnt know we even had PPI!)We pay £250 a month !!!
Should I mention this in my letter? Also have not mentioned the single premium thing to them, do I need to ....or just get letter off as mentioned above re FOS findings and Court action

I would mention it, as it will back up your reason for not knowing, put simply "If I was aware that I had a PPI policy, when my husband was off sick for 7 months I would have claimed"

I made a similar statment in my reclaim, and said that i was off work for 8 months, and if i new i had it, i would have claimed, shows that your sales rep never informed me correctly of the ploicy.

be careful, by saying this it could be seen as an admission the policy was suitable but you just made an error by not claiming !!!

Are people getting the 8% interest (which a court would normally award) when going down the FOS route ?

I am reclaiming Critical Illness Cover on my mortgage which i assume is another form of ppi are other people reclaiming this too?

Sent letter 1 17/01/2008 so letter 2 sent today as i had received no reply (not even to acknowledge) but that is HSBC for you
  • Just started court action against Promise Finance.
Back in 2003 when times were hard for me, a salesman came to my house and was very pushy etc, so I took the loan for £18000
Only recently I checked all the paperwork and £3400 of ppi was added to the loan!!!!!!
Promise have denied mis-selling, a lady from customer service called me up just over a week ago to tell me that there is nothing they can do for me!
So today I filed a claim against them via moneyclaim online!
I have already used this service against 4 major banks and succesfully claimed back £1000s so am confident.
Will let you all know how I get on.
    Never Give UP!

just in case no one knows people on low income are exempt from court fees

    check here http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/courtfinder/forms/ex160a.pdf

if you are complete this form - http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/courtfinder/forms/ex160.pdf

however, you can not do this online, it has to go to your county court.
  • the policy probably was suitable, but i did not know I had it, therefore how could I have made a claim not knowing that i could.

certainly go for the 8% - banks are allowed 8 weeks in which to respond to your complaint

Money Claim On Line is HMCS's (Her Majasties Court Service) on-lines claim section - it's instead of sending in the N1 claim form to your local county Court - it's actually slightly cheaper to use then the standard county court fees
