When does a Vodafone contract end?
Comments
-
Vodafone are telling me it does.
I used their online chat service again this evening, they said the charges end on the day you use your PAC code and you are not charged another 30 days after that. Neither are you charged 30 days from the day the PAC is issued.
If you really think that Vodafone advisers are giving out wrong information than perhaps Lee wants to weigh in on this.
Try searching the Vodafone forum there's lots of posts covering the subject such as .. .http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Pay-monthly-services/early-termination-fees-PLUS-charge-for-PAC-code/td-p/2013389
when you use the PAC- this will generate a final bill. If this is within the last 30 days of your contract, you will not have to pay an early termination fee. You will only be charged for the 30 day notice period.
If this is before the end of your contract- you will be charged an early termindation fee which will be up until the end of the minimum contract termIt's not just about the money0 -
Why were you using the chat service this evening to ask about something you claim to already know about???
I used the chat service again to see if Vodafone were giving the same information after I had been told I was misinformed in the thread.
I don't make any claims here, all I'm doing is relaying information I've received from Vodafone and my experiences with the company in the hope it might benefit others.

Not a vodafone rep but:
'If you use the PAC code, your contract with Vodafone will terminate immediately. If this is before your contract end date (normally 24 months after it started), there'll be an early termination fee, which will be the rest of the month, which you'll pay for in full (there's a small discount, though). If you've completed the minimum contract term, you'll pay for as much of the month as you've used up to the point of transfer. There isn't a notice period in that case as using the PAC does all the work. The final bill will br produced when the account closes and should include a note of when the dd will be taken.'0 -

Using the PAC automatically does the work in so far as using it cancels the contract and thus gives the 30 day notice at that point.
If you use it before the end of your minimum term they will add on a charge for an ETF ie 30 days plus the number of days before the contract matures.
So assuming you pay a month in advance the final bill to pay will be the number of days you terminated early.
If you terminate exactly 30 days before minimum term you won't have to pay anything or if you terminate late then you will have to pay the number of days you overrun. It's not just about the money0 -
I'm not sure what you're saying.
If he actually meant that using a PAC was the start of 30 days notice then he wouldn't have had said 'you'll pay for as much of the month as you've used up to the point of transfer.'

'There is no catch anywhere. drey_p is exactly right and as soon as your number transfers to another network, your Vodafone contract ends. You'll pay line rental up to the date the number transfers, and you'll receive a final bill the month after with no line rental charges. If you've used anything outside of your allowance you'll see these charges on your final bill.'0 -

It's the same advise.
They're saying that you get the PAC, if it's after minimum term and you use it that's it.

My understanding of the situation is that Vodafone like others require 30 days notice to cancel a contract.
A PAC is not a request to cancel until it's used
When you use it, it cancels the contract so in effect gives the required 30 days notice at that point.
You pay in advance so the 30 days notice is covered by your month in advance.
However depending on your billing date and when you use the PAC you will be billed for anything not already charged for on your final bill.
Perhaps if Lee reads this he will confirm whether this is correct. It's not just about the money0 -
It's clear enough for me.
You pay in advance at the start of the contract which leaves you with nothing to pay at the end of your 24 month term.
I'll maintain that my initial post in the thread was correct because it says the same thing: you're not obliged to pay for 30 days or service that you don't use.0 -
You pay in advance at the start of the contract which leaves you with nothing to pay at the end of your 24 month term.
I agree that the above information contradicts what I said earlier, but I still prefer to see the real bills before I stand corrected.
IMO, everything that Vodaphone CS say or write has to be taken with a pinch of salt.0 -

If that was true you would be able to end your contract in writing and they would terminate it on the spot after your minimum term was up, but I believe they don't do that.Yes - only if at any time during months 1-23 you give a notice to terminate the contract at the end of the month 24.

Like I said I used my PAC after the 24 month term was up, my final bill was nothing plus some credit.
I'm not going to post my bills on a public forum. Even if I scrubbed out personal details you would still have to take my word on the date I ported out.
Have a look at the last thread I linked to, it's not just Vodafone CS.0
