There are loads of 3g basic phones on ebay, even new ones from £6.99 some even have a keypad like the old Nokia's - nice for an emergency!
I use a couple of Nokia 1100's right now with a Coop payg sim, 4p/min if on Coop some and my partner spend about £10 a year keeping in touch when we go shopping etc.0 -
This is one notch short of a scam.
You sign up for the free service. They sign you up for a paid service. Try to downgrade it and they "don't recognise your password". You have to jump through hoops with the support team to reset your password and downgrade.
When you check your credit card statement you will find they have billed you. Try to find out for what and you will find you have been signed up for Value Added services without your knowledge that only now appear on your service plan. Ask for a refund and they stonewall you. I am going to go for a refund via credit card and a complaint to ASA. Let's see how that goes. In short, avoid this unless you enjoy bucketloads of hassle.0 -

That might have been your experience, I immediately cancelled all extras when the sim arrived and changed the card details to a prepaid card with a 0 balance just to be sure. They didn’t try and bill for anything.
The service itself leaves a lot to be desired though, I would never rely on the sim as my primary service, it’s just not reliable enough.====0 -

Yes, I had the offer of an additional card. I accepted and activated it while I was away.
I tried to downgrade and got a !!!!-and-bull message that because they needed credit of at least £2 to take care of any data charges, they would charge my card account with £10. And they did.
I couldn't find any mention of such a charge online so regard the charge as unmerited. Not sure whether to take this up with the credit card company.0 -
I had the offer of a month's 'free' calls to international numbers - 'free' until the monthly fee kicks in.
Because (i) of my experience in my previous post, and (ii) they don't have a list of included countries and whether mobiles as well as landlines are included, I didn't bother. I suspect that at least calls to Swiss mobiles are excluded.0 -
I see they now actively show that they use Three 4G and 3G. ISTR that this was anonymous when they launched.
Has call quality improved since the launch?0
