I get where you are coming from, but there are weeds which you can't just dig up, and so called "better" weedkillers don't even touch. As for burning them, lol that doesn't kill the roots.

As long as you keep cutting off whatever is above ground the roots will eventually die, no photosynthesis going on the weed can't survive. ;) It can be a painstaking job with the really stubborn ones though.

That doesn't work for horsetail, which is the bane of my life. Cutting off the tops just encourages the spread of the spores, and because it's one great connected root system metres below ground if even 1 plant is photosynthesising the rest will be fine. I spent 2 years cutting off the above ground bits to find it had spread significantly.

    It's only a game

If anyone is thinking of buying lids for their mason jar (Jeremiah weed) glasses, this is the cheapest I have found.

DD3 seemed excited about me getting the glasses as seems they are the "in" thing with the lids but not sure I am going to splash out after only paying £4 for the glasses.

Have to agree with you it is a bloomin nuisance we have horsetail too. Managed to eliminate it on the allotment with covering whole area in black plastic. But can't do that at home as it grows around the greenhouse and garage, we just battle with it I know not ideal but doing anything else would affect our produce. :(

Even thought we may have got rid of it after getting the new garage built as had not seen any until this month, as you say it will survive anything.

Another bad one is bind weed, but we have eradicated that from the garden by making sure we get as much root as possible each time and not putting it in compost. We leave everything including roots to dry out completely in the sunshine then get rid of it. It has taken years though. :o

I let myself down sometimes. But I always buy organic milk and butter.

You are right M4T1N there are lots of unanswered questions!

I find sainsbobs very good for organic. And the price is reasonable

organic bread for example is the same price as sada normal bread :)

Thought I better add I am assuming these will fit from the research I have done on size of the jar glasses. But I could be wrong. :o

Hi all, just had a scan back and noticed some talk of the jeramiah weed glasses. I got a set of 4 with lids and straws from Aldi last week for £4.99, not sure if they are available nationally or not. The kids love them.
