As a support role are not all cases documented?0

In the company I worked for, there used to be inserted into any job description something along the lines of 'whatever your manager deems necessary to the role'

Look, you started this topic on Thursday, what have you said to them? I can't believe what some people put up with, someone for example saying they went through 18 months on low pay! Why?
Let's be realistic here, they're not gonna increase your pay. They've no reason to. You need to give them a reason to. You've also already stated you can cope without work for a while. If I was in your position I'd be writing my letter of resignation this weekend and handing it in first thing Monday. If your serious about how vital you are they'll be throwing money at you to stay, although you need to make it clear your leaving for financial reasons. If your overinflating your value they'll likely just let you leave but only you know the true answer to this.
If you sit around doing nothing your poor pay is entirely your own fault. Take charge.

Why just a team member and not running this department?
Internal politics, and don't forget, it's not a training role, just something someone has to do since there is no one else who can do it. It's only when people start leaving, that they think oh !!!!!!. Then of course 'old management' are more than happy to foist us on 'new management', when the opportunity arises.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. If you don't have a written job description but training new staff has been one of your responsibilities for 17 years, how exactly did you get to the conclusion that this wasn't in your job description and refusing to do this part of your job would not be an HR issue?
If you are unhappy about the discrepancy in pay, refusing to carry out your normal duties is not the best way of negotiating an increase, and more likely to end up in you negotiating yourself out of a role. To be honest the fact they are not prepared to offer you the same as the new joiners doesn't support your own assessment of yourself as indispensable!0 -

Interestingly, I had a call from the friend who had told me about the salary offer she had. She said she was asked what salary she would like and replied that they should make her a sensible offer. So it's not even that she had to do any bargaining at all to get this 10k difference plus bonus offer. Remember, she has no knowledge of our industry either and would have needed training from scratch.
Seriously what if the friend is winding you up?
What if there is more than what is being presented to you at face value? Appreciate not your concern entirely but is the friend at risk of losing a job offer when it all comes out?0 -
I have a feeling the new managers may have worked out what the problem is.0
