    Mexican corn on the cob.

Either buy mini corn cobs, or cut big ones into 2 or 3 pieces.

Put into a pan: 3 tbsp butter, 2 tbsp tomato puree, 2 cloves of galic crushed, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp chilli powder.

Melt it all together and roll the corn cobs in it.

Make a foil dish and place the corn cobs in it, drizzle any remaining sauce over the top. Cover with more foil and BBQ for about 25 mins.

This tastes fantastic and I love it!

My son also loves a banana thrown on the BBQ so it goes all mushy and he scoops it out the skin! If you want to be indulgent, slice the banana and sandwich together with Nutella, then return it to it's skin to BBQ it.

    Tonight's experiment:

Cook home made burgers on the BBQ. When they are almost cooked, add a couple of slices of parmesan cheese to the top and close the lid for a few minutes. Serve in warm ciabatta rolls - yum yum
Here I go again on my own....

That mexican corn sounds really yummy, Becles. We don't have a bbq but I'm going to try it in the oven!

  • This has got the taste buds going now, so far I like the idea of the mexican corn the cob, halloumi (that brings back memories) I have also sourced some Lounza and got some Banna (Sheeps Caul) so it will be Sheftalia too (Yum Yum) with perhaps some devilled queen scallops done in pittas with raw cabbage and the usual things.
Some great ideas so far - Thanks one and all.

Pork spareribs are cheap, rubbed with spices and a drizzle of (value) honey, they barbecue very nicely. That's what we've just had for tea, actually.

Halloumi is the greatest barbecue item. I have a relish to go with it. I could look it up if you really it want it. Let me know
It is unwise to pay too much but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, all you lose is a little money... that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot...it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better (John Ruskin - 19 ctry author, art critic & social reformer)

    Hello

We're having a bbq for about 30 adults and 14 kids for my daughter's 2nd birthday and looking for ideas to keep it cheap and cheerful. We'll ask everyone to bring something along but could do with some assistance.

Has anyone got any money saving tips ?

    Thanks in advance.

The sun is shining and a long weekend is approaching :j

Wondered if any body has any good OS ideas about what to cook on and serve with a BBQ?

I have been making my own burgers but, whilst tasting nice, they do tend to fall apart a bit

    Thanks!
