The date is saturday, any advice is appreciated
Change the location of the date.
I agree that a restaurant is far from ideal for a first date, particularly with someone you've never even spoken to.
Any chance you can change it to an afternoon coffee, a walk... anything that isn't so 'formal'?0 -
Ah well - I'm obviously far too picky but I wouldn't agree to go then :rotfl:. But that's why it'll be just me and my cat for the next few years :rotfl:.
Have fun0 -
Go, relax and be yourself. There's no point over thinking it. You'll either like each other or not.0

It can be changed if you say that you don't want to meet there.
If she refuses to change the venue, don't go.
Is it an expensive place? Is your date expecting you to pay for her meal?
I totally agree - of course it CAN be changed.
Why does she get to go where she wants and you don't? it's a DATE - somewhere you both want to go.
I think a meal is quite hard for a first date, what if you instantly don't like each other, what if you want to leave after half an hour.............
i'd call her up and suggest a coffee somewhere, a restaurant can be for another - IF you BOTH want that.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
If she's not willing to compromise on the venue after knowing that you aren't happy with the restaurant, then your friend's assessment of her as 'she's really nice' doesn't hold water.0

Perhaps your friend suggested it? Maybe this potential date knows the restaurant and feels safe there meeting a strange person? We need to consider her feelings too.
I do think a meal can be tough, if you don't get on then it is a long time to sit in uncomfortable silence. Better to do something first so you can talk about that - gallery or something.
That said, does this place have a bar area as well as the food part? Can you keep the venue but suggest it is a drink/coffee on the first occasion? What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
I've only ever been on one blind date that friends said i'd like her, i was picking her up at her house.
I knocked on the door and first reaction was ..... she's nice. Very nice.
Then she said come in, my my Mum is nearly ready.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Italian restaurants are very informal compared to say the ritz. Just relax and enjoy the food, she has probably been told you are very nice too!!' Why not have some pizza then head to the bowling alley afterwards. Try not to worry, it's just a date, have some fun with it.Penny xxx
Old age isn't bad when you consider the alternative.0 -
I'd love to hear the good/bad points from your friends instead haha! I know people who think theyre lovely to talk to and can talk to people no problem...the problem being people don't really see them this way!
I guess you should let her have this one in the restaront (yup) and then as you talk to people so well you can express how you don't prefer that setting for dates and then discuss settings you both can agree to! There's a nice discussion point for ya!0
