    I'm thinking of going to a salon and having highlights put in my long and thick hair. I don't want to start something I can't keep up with though, hence why I am asking the question;

    How much is it likely to cost and how much will it be to have it "touched up" and how often do I need to do that? Every 6 weeks?

    You need to decide whether you want a full head of highlights or half a head.

    Left side or right side when you have half a head done? :rotfl:

    Seriously, I presume you mean less highlights or just the "top" bits?

    I think I'd go for a full head. How much is that likely to set me back?

    When I used to get mine done I used to get a full head but I asked them not to put them in on the hair line on the very top, means you can leave it a little longer before you need to have them done again

    I'll remember that tip about not putting them on the hair line.

    How much does it cost to get the roots done?

    In my experience they need redoing about every 6wks -they look awful if you leave them and get a big gap.
    When I had them they have cost me between £40 and £80 depending on the salon. I'm not sure it would be any cheaper just for roots as surely they'd have to just do another stripe rather than 'joing up' the old stripe?
    If it hurts no-one, let it be :beer:
