    Hi
ces. I'm going grey so obviously get the roots done each time, I also get some other colours put in (he uses a word beginning with s, I would know it if you mentioned it) (not that you can really tell, hence why I want to change). Sometimes there's one other colour, sometimes two.

Is it slices? Sounds like what I get and that's what the salon call it - also heard it called flashes. Random bits of colour which can completely change the look depending on how the hair is parted or styled.

It's so important to find a hairdresser you get on with - good luck!
  • Could it be spatula highlights Ms C?

I'm a dark blonde but have been colouring my hair black for about 5 yrs.
Any way, I decided to try and go back to my natural colour ( grey hair's less obvious). Over the last month Ive put 3 lots of lightener on my hair, which is now a shade of Orange that even Ronald McDonald would laugh at. Despite my best efforts, some lightener did go on my natural roots, which are now nearly white. To counter the red tones Ive tried putting an ash blonde on as the blue tones should help nutralise the red tones, but its had little effect.
Has any one had this happen to them and how did you fix it. Problem is, as my hair dresser says 'Ive got hair like steel' and colour doesnt take to my hair very easily. Should I just try another application of ash blonde?
Smile. Its the second best thing you can do with your lips....

Did your hairdresser do the lightener or you?

The problem with repeatedly applying lightener is that is will make your hair more coarse, and if you do it too much it will of course just break off.

If you have been doing it yourself i suggest not to put any more colours, lighteners, or toners on your hair and get your hairdresser to take a look and tell you what can be done, it is fixable but best to have it done professionally. Such a dramatic change of colour from black to dark blonde should be undertaken properly as you risk wrecking your hairs condition. hth

The other alternative depending on how much regrowth you have is to have a very short choppy cut that you can wax into a spiky look and which will cut all the orange out.

    I bet you are demented.

A similar thing happened to my friend, she put a chestnut dye onto her grey hair and looked like she had been tangoed.

Her hair was like yours too 'steel'! and we sorted it by dying it light brown and putting in blonde highlights so the regrowth wouldn't be too obvious.

    Hope this helps.
  • Do you have a photo so we can [STRIKE]laugh[/STRIKE] offer advice? :D sadly i learned the hardway "leave blond hair dye to the pro's" i suggest you visit the hairdresser or training college for some advice.

:rotfl: same thing happened to me! it cost me a fortune to get it fixed!

Vez where abouts do you live?
Only I have a hair colour correction specialist needing models on this monday evening 28th january. This would be great as it is with level 3 hairdressers these are full trained hairdressers working in salons.
You would need to have the colour stripped, and then coloured with you natural colour or a colour you would like to be.
