The L'Oreal site suggested is excellent. Thanks.
Still not sure though if I should put my current colour as the mid blonde it is after salon colouring or the murky bown/grey it would be if i left it to it's own devices.
Help   This is so scary
Don't want to be walking round with my head in a bag for 2 months
Hi again hun, Having been every colour in the book over the last 10 years, platinum blonde-red-light brown- dark brown.
The only problems i have had were when i wanted to lighten my natural colour at home. (eg go really blonde)
If you chose a shade or two darker than your natural roots there shouldn't be a problem with coverage.I will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!
Total £560 -
This is a beauty question so I think you'll get more help in the beauty board. I'll move this over for you.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Will you let us know how it goes?
Good luck!

Thanks again all and I will let you know what happens.
Heavenleigh says should be OK if I go a shade or two darker than my natural but that it the problem, I want to go a shade or two lighter in order to keep the look I have now.
Any hairdressers out there who are willing to give me an out of work opinion?
I think blondes do have more fun so don't want to go darker again
Pam

Following on from Muppet's thread about hair colouring, and of course many of us do use the home colours, do any (or many) of you carry out the 48 hr patch skin test each time you use a colourant?
I've never done one until I saw this program the other week whereby some woman got a bad alergic reaction and ended up shaving all her hair off  Anyway this scared me so on Friday I did the skin test.
I did two, one behind each ear. The right side became a bit red and itchy but the left side was fine. My brother is a hairdresser so I asked him what I should be looking for. He said that over the 48 hour period so should be looking for any reactions to your skin anywhere on your body.
Sunday came and I coloured my hair and everything was fine although I was worried because of the program plus one side of my skin became a bit red and the other didn't.0 -
I never do but I must admit I panicked a bit, I think I saw the same program as you so next time I will do one. You never know when the ingredients get changed without you knowing0

I never do a patch test and I must've coloured my hair dozens of times over the last decade. Touch wood I've never had a reaction ro oneyet, and I've never had one go wrong...0

Me neither. Never have YET!!! It seems to take so long to colour the hair and wait around before I can wash it off that I tend to grab a day when I have a free hour or two. I never have the forethought to plan ahead and do a patch test 48 hours before. Does the patch test apply if you have your hair coloured at the hairdressers? Presumably you would have to go twice within a couple of days of they did?0

I've coloured my hair every four weeks for the last 15 years and have never done a patch test or had one suggested my a hairdresser and I've never had any problems. I do remember a few years ago that there was a big thing about having patch tests done, it was probably a similar programme, and they were suggesting that every hair salon should do one a couple of days before colouring the hair.:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0

i never do, however i generally stick to the same color these days0
