So I took the plunge and cashed in £2500 of premium bonds. I have completely mixed feelings about this - I am thrilled that a credit card will be gone in a week or so, before it incurs interest, BUT I am really cross/annoyed/disappointed to have cashed in my long term savings. Will have to work harder to top this up.
I have paid off £1000 from the tesco cc just to leave some in the current acc as a buffer for the last week before payday, which should relieve some stress for the minute. I am not sure exactly what date the interest started to accrue in the credit card (statement due on 21st and can't log in online) so i thought if i paid off £1000 now it would make a good impact. When the statement comes in and payday is here it can be gone!!!

Oh well done you, I know you how you must be feeling regarding that though & can understand the mixed feelings.
You will feel better when you see those balances disappear before your very eyes.

Made a payment of £175 to the barclaycard no 2 today. Brings the total down to £7475.
You are right of course dolly. I will appreciate the debts going down/ gone and i will just have to wait longer to retire lol!!
One more day to work and then its half term yay!
I have a list og goals on my phone to try to keep me focused and motivated. Along with paying off each individual debt, it also includes little 'life improvement' goals to do as a reward for finishing paying a debt. This is the way to keep me motivated right now, because this is a long frustrating journey.
Have a good day everyone.[STRIKE]Tesco 1 - £200[/STRIKE]. Tesco 2 - [STRIKE]£4350[/STRIKE]. £0 Barclaycard 1 - [STRIKE]£4375[/STRIKE]. £2600 Barclaycard 2 - [STRIKE]£7356[/STRIKE] £6272

I have made the final payment to the second tesco credit card today!! It is now clear and will be closed as soon as possible. I am so pleased and am feeling very motivated even though I know this month is going to be very tight. From next month, my focus will be the smaller barclaycard.
Really looking forward to half term with the children although i know it will be frugal. Think they are ready for a rest now as well.

Thanks for the words of encouragement folks xx
Well first day of half term and we have already been to the beach with the dog and back home for hot choc and coffee. I decided that since rain is forecast for pretty much the whole week, we would get out in the fresh air first thing whilst it was dry. It was very windy and fresh but lovely. Dog is now snoring happily, children playing a bit of iPad. Then we are off out food shopping. I have a £5 coupon so have put £2.50 into holiday account. I'm sure my mum said she had two this week so i must check that and do 2 shops this week if necessary (don't want to waste the coupon lol!) Not sure what we will be doing this afternoon yet. Going to the cheap morning cinema tomorrow because it is the minions film which we haven't seen yet. Then day out with parents wednesday. Love having a plan[STRIKE]Tesco 1 - £200[/STRIKE]. Well we had a lovely half term and nice bonfire night. This year we didn't buy fireworks because usually the children get bored, so we used some junk bits of wood and driftwood collected, to make a bonfire in the garden. The children loved it and it was free (apart from the marshmallows to toast on the fire) :T
However, it is now that time of the month when the bank account is freaking me out! I know I wrote a similar thing last month but its just so annoying that the outgoings are so high and leave so little wriggle room. I have to hold my nerve and not give in, and in time this should improve. But before that of course its Christmas
What I really like is that this diary keeps me in line. At times like this when I want to give up and use credit cards, I come on here, read and write in this diary, and it makes me realise I need to keep going.
Hope everyone has a good day x[STRIKE]Tesco 1 - £200[/STRIKE]. Tesco 2 - [STRIKE]£4350[/STRIKE]. £0 Barclaycard 1 - [STRIKE]£4375[/STRIKE]. £2600 Barclaycard 2 - [STRIKE]£7356[/STRIKE] £6272
