  • Done the shopping this morning for under £50 :j

Also cashed in £5 from cashback so thats my holiday account £675.

Need to get a few more things on eBay because I am feeling a bit demoralised by the speed of things at the moment. The tesco cc 0% expires in october so I need to come up with a plan for that one asap  The obvious option is a balance transfer but I am looking at alternatives because that feels like a backwards step in my debt levels once you factor in the fees. So I need £3900 before the end of next month then :p Well as I said before, i like a challenge!

  • Morning

If you can find a legit way to get £3900 before the end of next month then I'm all ears!

Seriously though, some lenders charge a relatively low transfer fee so although it appears it's going against your new mse logic, compared to the amount of interest you'll be saving it's probably your best bet.

Have a good day! :) xx

  • I have decided to transfer £1000 from the tesco card which will incur interest from the middle of october, onto the barclaycard at 0% (unfortunately that was the maximum available on the credit limit). This obviously is still a debt but at least i don't have to open a new credit card. Still thinking about the rest (£2900) :(

  • Hiya

Great idea for transferring part of the debt so at least it's 0%. I'm sure it'll go down in no time - much quicker than with interest anyway!

Have a great day :) xx

  • I agree sassy, it makes a big difference having 0% interest. Not only for the obvious of not paying extra but also it would make my savings goal a bit ridiculous if my debt was costing me money, while my savings account pays (i think) 0.75%!!!

I have paid £200 to the tesco card today, leaving a balance of £2700 still.

Something that I have never mentioned is that we have some savings in premium bonds. We set this up as a very long term savings for retirement because i have a nasty habit of spending money that is in instant access savings accounts. We have standing orders to buy more each month because i am determined to not have to work until I'm 68 and want a broad selection of 'investment'/pensions. I have a total of £2550 and my husband has the same. I never wanted to touch this money but Im tempted to withdraw mine and pay off the tesco card. Its a big dilemma for me because this is part of my retirement fund.:doh: Still thinking about that one.

I am having a catch up with housework day today whoopee!!! x

  • Hey harryspotter (love the username)

I am loving your diary & well done on chipping away at the cards & the amount you have saved for your holiday - it is amazing!

I am hopeless with investments & pensions (only have my occupational pension) so can't offer you any advice on that - sorry!

I am also paying off debt whilst saving for holidays.

My debt is slowly rising at the moment due to me being an absolute eejit & mucking up my budget last month - I am very annoyed at myself but we live & we learn don't we.

  • Thanks for your comments dolly! I am certainly chipping away but my word it feels slow sometimes lol!!

Pay day today yay! I have transferred £25 of overtime pay into my holiday account making that balance £700. According to my little app on my phone that is 14.58%!!

Also paid £100 to barclaycard 1. That brings the balance of that one into the 3s! small victories and all that!

    Must keep plodding x

  • Woo hoo! £700.00 is a fantastic amount.

What is the app that you have that shows you the % I would love one like that.

Will be a while before my barclaycard is in the 3's I would imagine but I will get there eventually.

  • hi dolly - i have an app called fine ants. i realise I'm a little geeky but i love it! you add amount of saving and where its from so it works great for my purposes.

Keep going with that barclaycard - even at my most frustrated i keep telling myself that every month that goes by, the amount is always going down. Down is down.

    Have a great day x
