V excited but also nervous as my elderly neighbour kicked off big style when we first started the work and I can't help but think he's going to do it again . . . . . . .

.kicked off on what grounds kpc?
  • I think this post is gonna be a bit long so I apologise in advance. I just wanted to have a little bit of a purge/outpouring- and I wondered if anyone else felt like this....

Its officially day 2 of the diet- but tbh it half heartedly started a couple of days before that. I can't believe how much better I feel! I dont think i've lost any weight but the change in my diet has made a world of difference. Already I feel like I have more energy and I feel less bloated and sludgy. It's made a big impact on my outlook too- i dont feel as low as I sometimes did.

It's now easy to see the reasons why I have got to this point. It went something like ...

Laziness -> Can't be bothered to cook dinner/ prepare lunch for work-> get a takeaway/buy something at work-> eat it-> feel guilty-> put on weight-> feel rubbish and weakwilled -> get low and therefore, feel lazy (we're back to the start)... and so it goes on.

It just takes you to break the cycle for you to realise how bad it was.

This morning I shot out of bed on time (v unusual), I had lunch made, clothes ironed and ready etc. I made and ate breakfast (totally unusual because i would have over-slept). It's not just diet related things that have been affected. My house is tidier, I'm doing better at work and I don't feel as self-concious walking past groups of people (I've not lost ay weight- i just feel less guilty about how I look!). It has surprised me how this one aspect of my life (my eating habits) have such a knock-on affect to other unrelated aspects, probably due to a more positive and proactive outlook.

I've been a competitive horse rider for years and at last nights training session even my instructor (who doesn't know about my new healthy eating regime) said that we (me and the horse) seemed to have "turned a corner tonight"...

Does anyone else feel like dieting/eating more heathily has changed other stuff in their lives seemingly unrelated to their diet? I'm just interested to see how it has affected everyone else here...

Went to Boots this morning and was surprised to learn I lost 2lb making it now 18stone exactly and a total lost of 149lb or 36% or my original bodyweight :)

BMI has dropped from 56.69 to 35.66

So well done to all you losers and anyone who has maintained. Gainers not to worry, day one and back on this journey to 'normalville' as someone once called it :)

Right back to work for now, I guess it would be rude not to aim for one more pound? and right the magic 150lb mark :)

    Catch you all later

Yay well done Suggs! go get rid of that last pound you know you want to 3_3_20.gif

  • ftb, i was considering having a sneaky chocolate binge this afternoon but your post has really motivated me not to - thanks.

my neighbours are lovely ajax, but both quite advanced in years. He has all kinds of lung problems and what little pleasure he gets in life comes from his garden. Because of the awful weather and everything else we ripped out the trees and bushes adjoining the boundary but got stuck. He got more and more mad looking at our garden and just threw a few wobblers - even 'got the council on us' at one point! Eventually my OH went and knocked on his door and got him to tell us what the problem was and what he wanted us to do about it. I'm just soooooo anxious that he'll kick off again, even though the council have told him he has no right to. Stress!!

Petrichor, not sure where you live but ikea have some lovely old fashioned preserving jars that seem pretty cheap . . . .
  • Thanks for the help re the jam jars:beer: . Lakeland do a good offer but the nearest shop to me is closed for refurbishment, but I've managed to get hold of a few quite locally so these will do for today. I threw a load out last year as I thought I wouldn't be bothering anymore with jam making but I couldn't resist nature's free bounty :money: this year. The other year I went to Ikea and bought some of their Rowanberry jam which was lovely, and I've since found a recipe for it, so when I get some more jars I'll give it a go. It's not that we eat much jam especially since I've lost the weight and don't want to put any back on, but I enjoy making it so I'll be giving most of it away. I think people will start to hide from me soon "Oh no!! She's got some more bl**dy jam in her hand" :rotfl: ...

...katie Your neighbour sounds a bit doolally, we had one who complained to the council about having skips outside his home all the time, we had only ever had one in 20 years and it was outside our home!!!!The council put him right ;) but thankfully he has recently moved, so we're now going to get a conservatory done without having to worry...

... ftbworried Thank you for your post. I'm pleased to see that you're experiencing the positive aspects already even at this early stage :j. I suffer with lack of confidence but when I got the diet well under way I felt, for once, that I was actually in control of something and that, to me, was a real achievement. It made me break old, bad habits and get new healthy, good habits into my life. Someone here said just a week or so ago, something like if you radiate a positive feeling then you seem to attract the same back from other people. So keep it up, this will boost you even more :T ...

.......gin-slinging old dodderer! Tell him to worry about his own garden and mind his own business with what you do with your side of the fence. If you were ripping out his bushes he'd have a point but it's your call what you do with yours.

Eels your baby is SOOOOO gorgeous. Do you need an extra granny? :D

Suggs Am I right in thinking you lost 2lb without even really meaning to? Do you think you've so successfully changed your eating habits that you just automatically make the best choices? will that day ever come for me? Good luck with the next 1lb. I think you shoud have T shirts printed!! Small ones.

Thank you Delly for the chart and big claps and cheers to annie and notanothergreyhair. (Now I've written big claps it sounds kind of rude but you know what I mean) :T :T

ftb I also feel 'different' even with minmal weight loss (so far) but I'm worried about how to keep this buzzy feeling going. A month or two along the line is usually when it all start to drift. :o I'm hoping that with all the support this thread offers this time will be permanently different.

I agree with Ajax Victory --- post the pics! Gaunt ... I DREAM of being gaunt. I bet you're slim.
