I'm still waiting on that cyberhuggle Ajax Or are you sulking? 00020076.gif

..... noooo, I got over sulking last week and refocused. Here's your cyberhuggle, and I can only apologise in advance for the fact that you find it pervy :)

    So, to delly .............. :grouphug:

Right then delly!! This maximum 14 points on alcohol per week thing...

"when you happily ignore their guidelines on the amount of alcohol and sugary food to be consumed in a week (14 - I'm sure you've noticed that in your OH's book by now)"

I've scoured that book from cover to cover and then went back and did it another twice just to make sure. The only recommendations to alcohol are on page 84 and they read :

"Medical experts recommend no more than 2 to 3 units of alcohol per day for women and 3 to 4 units a day for men"

....now then. A unit is defined on the same page as the equivalent of half a pint of lager, beer or cider. Half a pint of lager, beer or cider is 1.5 points. Therefore, a man could have a maximum of 42 points per week - a far cry from 14. (4 units x 1.5 points x 7 days)

Of course, the less spent on alcohol the better, as it is empty calories but that's by the by. 14 is by no measure a WW policy amount (in the book that you allude to) any more than 5 or 31 or 27.3333 recurring. Going on the WW policy written above, when the numbers are converted from pints to points then men would have a maximum of 31.5 to 42 points per week, while women would have a maximum of 21 to 31.5.

So "happily ignoring guidelines" turns out to be nothing more than a hollow insult (and felt like it to be honest).

Go on - "But, but, but... my leader says..." :p

.... pack the fridge with veggie yogurts such as the Morrisons or Tesco ones we talked about.

I'd love to ... but tried this once before and ate LOADS of them ... cost me a fortune!:o

.... Make some chocolate mousse by combining some vff fromage frais and creme fraiche (IIRC? - Bbelle?) with a Cadbury's Highlights sachet for 2 syns per sachet. That's probably better as the kids won't beat you to those ingredients

What a fab idea:T I'm not normally keen on hot chocolate (as a drink) but I always think it smells really nice ... so I'm guessing this would taste pretty good as a dessert. Will definately give this a go - thanks:D

How about Cleopatra ... 'Carry on Cleo' ?

....nice one tiredy, ooh Cleo :)

KPC, if not happy with the amount of midriff on show with Cleo's costume, how about Barbara Windsor's character Bettina from Carry On Henry? A very comely wench she was.

.... wait until someone on SW confirms the parts first tiredy, I don't want to kill you. :) Not really having a sweet tooth, I only did it once for a taster night, so the memory is vague. The more I think about it, the more I think it might be low fat yogurt and creme fraiche?

Go on - "But, but, but... my leader says..." :p

Ajax I'm not going to engage in another pointless discussion about points values and alcohol. You are perfectly happy to spend your points on booze, (a quality of life issue for you) and no-one can make you do anything you don't want to. As I said before, we are all here for support and to get results. I felt that I was passing on the advice I was given by my WW leader (who has over 15 years experience). If you choose not to take it, that's up to you.

Now on to more important things....
KPC - I really liked tiredy's idea of Cleopatra, and SUCH an easy costume to make. (of course, when you're party is finished you could always make the trip to Derry for Halloween- it's not just the kids that get dressed up over here).
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.
  • Wow! There's been some great losses reported since I last logged on...well done everyone!!!

Tiredy, Boredom used to be my munching trigger (still is tbh)...Have you tried treating yourself to something to stop you going to the fridge? painting your nails...giving yourself a foot massage... or having a shower to perk yourself up a bit?

big hugs to those who are struggling...keep at it! we'll all get there eventually!

definitely not mate, I think this was due a lot to the extra efforts put in last week which I felt weren't fully rewarded. It goes back to that old mantra that we tell everyone else, but so easily forget ourselves that if you don't get what you deserve then stick with it, the reward has to come in the end.
