ICICI problems

I've been with them since they opened the HiSave account. It took a couple of weeks to get opened, which I understand was down to volume of applications, and since then I've never had any trouble whatsoever. Money goes in, money comes out, all done in the 3 working days they say. I'm very happy with it and intend to keep it open for the forseeable future.
  • No problems with my ICICI - I've phoned 'em up on a few occasions in order to transfer in with CHAPS rather than BACS and had everything spelled out to me.

Had some trouble logging in one time, when it turns out they changed their account number format without telling anyone!!! (or at least I never received the email). But was quickly sorted over the phone.

Transfers took 2 or 3 days IIRC. Advantage being with it set up as Direct Debit that the loss of interest is minor compared to BACS 3 day cycle, or the cost of CHAPS.

Mind I only have £30k in it for FSA reasons, bulk of it is in IceSave and I need to spread the eggs around a bit better with all the bank turmoil.

Glad I never put the £30k in a "trusted" high street bank, like Northern Crock (ahem).

100% hassle free account for nearly two years now though I'm not the type of person to create my own problems !! Not saying that all complainants have caused their own problems, but many people haven't helped themselves. Transfers always quick and efficient.
  • Ok, I'm feeling twitchy.

Looked at my egg money manager a couple of days ago... hang on - I'm 4k down... eh?

Traced it to ICICI account. My statement shows:

12/09 Incoming transfer from linked account: £4k.
14/09 Reversal of said transfer: -£4k

Eh? I fired off a message to ask why it has been reversed - no reply as yet.

To make thing even more confusing... the linked account (smile) shows no payment out. That account has had plenty of funds to cover the transfer.

Am I going mental? Did that 4k I thought I had never exist? (Ie. only appeared to transfer in for two days)

To further baffle me, A&L are showing £178ish as unavailable balance... for no apparent reason.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

When this happened to me, it was because ICICI tried to collect the transfer under an invalid direct debit reference and my bank bounced it.

Paid a cheque in recently, or paid for something by debit card that isn't showing up yet?
  • Definitely no cheques... and no debits anywhere close to that figure.

  • Oh dear, I've just signed on to the forum to ask if anybody else had had problems with ICICI as every time I try to log on I have problems. Do you have to log on within a certain period for the account to remain active? After reading the recommendations on this site I put my measly savings into ICICI and am now very nervous. Off to try and get my money back . . .

I think if you don't access the account for 6 months or so, they block your online access and you need to call their freephone number to ask them for a new password..

  • No issues with me and ICICI....... There's a suspicious tinge about some emails in here, if you substitue the name of the bank for the nationality of the bank, i.e. Indian.... It was the same on some of the the other threads about them.....

It appears that half the time people want it to go wrong, so as to confirm their prejudices...
  • I have found that whenever I wish to log in I cannot get access. I call and they tell me the ID is reactivated.... over and over again.... they are the worst bank I have ever dealt with. I am closing my account and getting out whilst I can! They are a nightmare, avoid like the plague....
    Titch :)
