MSE News: Amazon shopper? It's upping the minimum spend needed for free delivery

Update: 30 April, 09.40: Amazon's terms and conditions still state that the minimum spend for free delivery is £10 and when we carried out a dummy transaction costing £15, free delivery was still available. This is despite it telling us it would change at 6pm yesterday. However it could be pulled at any time and we're still yet to receive clarification from Amazon on what's happening, despite constantly asking both yesterday and this morning.0

It used to be £15 minimum for super saver delivery back in 2008 anyway, before it went down to £5 and then down to no minimum.
Trouble is now most other places offer a free collect from store option, which Amazon can't / doesn't do.0 -
Plenty about it from google? In fact too many links to post.

I agree, there are many links, but I can find none that quote an official source. In fact the second link you posted sums it up for me
Rumours that minimum spend to use it will double

What I can't understand(but welcome), is the fact that my last 4 orders for batteries, varnish, mouse traps and a car phone charger all well under £10.00, have all been post free. Last year I placed an order for a pack 2 car key batteries @ £1.29 and these were also post free.Abandoned0

Sounds as if they were marketplace sellers.
Some of those operate on what seem to be unbelievably small margins. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Hi all, Amazon has now told us it has "made no changes to Free Super Saver Delivery at this time". This is despite it telling us yesterday that the threshold would change at 6pm – as you can see from the email we've now published in the news story.
We've asked it whether we were given incorrect information, or whether it has backtracked. We've also asked whether it has any plans to change the minimum spend for free delivery in the near future. We will update you in the news story.
Also, if anyone has any screenshots where the threshold did change to £20 at any point - please email them to me: helen@moneysavingexpert.com Thanks.0 -

The key words there are 'at this time'. There's obviously a change on the way.
No screen grab, but I checked this last night and it was definitely requiring £20 (books £10) before free postage was included. Oddly, though, when you checked the FAQ it was still showing the old £10 figure.0 -
I don't have any screenshots but at 8pm last night it did change to £20, had checked just before 8 and it was still £10. earlier in the day web chat confirmed it would be changing. I had just over a tenner in vouchers which I used and told them in the chat that I wouldn't be back.0

Have given up using Amazon due to the cynical nature of free delivery. I found I was getting frustrated by receiving an email to say an item had been dispatched only to have to wait four days and receive the item via a 24 hour delivery service !!0

Interesting is that the first email referred to PRIME FREE0
