The Only Girl - how can you owe them anything if you paid via installments and it has now ended?

Mothernerd - so sorry to hear how tough things have been for you. Sounds all very wearing.

Love the Don't give up the day job and will have a go when feeling a bit more on top of things. A lot of you seem to be in thirties and looking forward, whereas I am just behind Nannygladys (wish I were nearer) everything is falling to bits and unfortunately I still have to get through another 8years 8 months and one week till I get my retirement pension (state only but luxury to what I have been surviving on). Not that I am counting or anything (did it on my birthday even worked out the extra days for the leap years. Just wait till you get to the age where your bank sees fit to celebrate your advancing years by sending you e-mails offering deals on will writing and pre-paid funerals).

Setting aside the stepchange plan for now as I have worked out a survival plan that will get me through the next couple of months, I think. Someone was interested in the house but had others to look at so have agreed a further price reduction with the agent. Selling the house solves everything, just need to survive as long as possible.

Lost count on SFD and how much spent (chocolate led purchases and wasn't strong enough to trek to the SM so cutting back now to use up what we have in for as long as possible).

Have been doing okay on getting rid of stuff and cleaned the equipment I was lent last night so I can phone them to collect it. This involved DS3 fitting a new loo seat (old one was damaged and I ripped it off to put the raised seat with handles in before my op) and he did a very good job). Will amend my de-clutter figure in a minute if internet stays on.

Will be on as and when access is available to cheer you on. I am standing by abundant without lycra or pompoms (not good on a woman rapidly approaching 60 and with the same weight issues many of you have outlined - currently hovering between size 18-20 but better than a couple of weeks ago when my few clothes started getting tight again).

Today I am grateful for a good visit from DS2, for being able to re-home more stuff to somewhere it will do most good, for being able to do a favour for the neighbours (through clenched teeth as they are not being nice to me atm) and for the bathroom actually looking much better (new seat, put a few things back in a basket and mopped again - mopped the floorboards last time, so the vinyl was folded back when I was mopping it).

    GO TURTLES GO!
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

I am also a bit annoyed with myself about my car insurance. My old insurance from esure (£27/month) ran out on 4th April. I found a better deal with AA insurance (£19/month) and signed up with them starting 5th April. Naturally I cancelled the direct debit for esure. I received a letter and an email from them saying that if they didn't receive further payments my insurance cover would cease. I didn't bother because I had a new insurance. Then an agent rang me to say I should have cancelled my insurance and I needed to pay £30 as termination fee. However she also said if I emailed her a proof of cover with AA the termination fee would be waived. This afternoon they wrote to me again saying I have an outstanding balance of £108. I don't know what to do. I haven't even told my OH yet because he would not be very please. Any ideas anyone?

Sorry being such s downer this evening.

    Hiya.

I made the same stupid mistake (not calling you stupid, i just misunderstood the letter and presumed it was all sorted).
I was with tescimos though. I phoned them up and explained how stupid I had been and was very apologetic. Told them that I thought the letter saying they couldn't take payment and would cancel my account meant that they were cancelling my account and that I had booked with someone else.
The guy I got was absolutely lovely and he cancelled the renewed policy with them and refunded my money. Phew.

So I would maybe try phoning them and just being as nice as possible. Due to my nerves, I always have an embarassed laugh and sound worried on the phone so I don't know if that might help you maybe??

It really baffles me how they can do that. In all my years as a car owner I have never had to call to cancel my insurance and never had to pay an exit fee. I really want to ring them tonight but as my phone line is dead and my mobile is capped I can't ring til I get to work tomorrow (shameful i know but I have no choice at the moment).

Stewby, this is what I saw after reading your message (glad your gran is on the mend)
littleskintdragon-hope you feel better soon. Do keep pooping on to say hello even if you don't write a lot.
    :rotfl:

Hugs to everyone in their ups and downs and more high fives for radio celebrities and getting under £5k!

NSD 11 here, but doubt I'll make the 20 with Oslo! Was going to buy food today but going to wait until I go for holiday things at the weekend and get everything at once. So tomorrow's meals will be make do and munch here too :D

I've printed off a grid to colour in as I pay off my mortgage, after I heard someone on here say they do it. Sadly it's several pages long, even though the boxes are VERY small :o It will be a great day when I get to that last box though!

Today I am grateful for Skype letting me talk to three people at once in two different countries, for taking my work to the park which is full of blossom, for my bike chain not coming off all day!

EDIT: loads of new messages whilst I was writing this! mothernerd nice to hear from you and good for you being proactive with the survival plan :)

Stewby glad your relatives are on the mend, and what fantastic service for your gran

Bob and calling enjoy your bubble baths! ;)

Today should have been a SFD but I bought takeaway! I really have lost the plot at the moment. OH had his interview and thinks it went well, so fingers crossed he hears tomorrow and it's good news. Took LTW and I've done over 12000 steps today :)

Dear Turtles...I can't keep up with you all. But is s lovely to have a community!

I spent money today - I bought a bikini, not sure I have ever bought one before, and haven't worn one in about 25 years. I am celebrating thonse curves and those streches on my belly from my pregnancy. I have a beuatiful daughter as a result! Nothing to be ashamed of there. I also treated mysels to cake and coffee, but did manage to curtail getting myself soemthing for dinner out as well, got back from Oxford street quite late and had porridge!

I had a meeting today with the private company I am going to be working with, went well, and I start on the 11th of June. 3 days in the NHS and 3 days in the private company, squished into 5 days. Debtbustingtastic it should be! - Just need to be prepared for several meals to work - I eat after yoga > Lunch and dinner 2 days a week so 3 meals a day soemtimes and 2 on other days. My bag is often very heavy!

Got to yoga today, and a lot of walking. It has been gorgeous and sunny and I took the bus instead of the tube to see what was going on.

    Night.

My only experience of similar is making the mistake of thinking I could just move provider mid policy and not understanding I owed a set amount for the year regardless of stopping. So I have been left with a balance. I won't make that mistake again.

When I moved Life insurer recently I was advised by my broker to not bother cancelling the old one as it doesn't work the same way.

So I think that's what you have to be 100% sure of whether you definately got to your renewal date or you could well owe them.

Thanks Bob, I am positive I moved to the new provider AFTER the other one has ended, I am kicking myself for not picking up the phone to let them know I was moving (like I said I never had to do that with all my other providers, didn't think I had to as my understanding was the policy was for ONE year.). I thought I was saving money by not phoning (their number is premium number) and now facing £108, whatever I saved for not phoning and the saving I thought I made with the lower payment with AA is offset with this unexpected bill. But as previously mentioned by stewby I will ring them tomorrow and will try to be as charming as possible to avoid paying this amount. Fingers and everything else crossed. Wish me luck.
