NSD 6 bagged yesterday. I had to creative with some leftover gammon and veggies, and made spaghetti carbonara. all fine and dandy to use lots of cheap pasta, but I'm on WW, so limited my portion to 45g, and 75g gammon. That meant eking out the meal with leeks and mushrooms, and a carrot, onion and fennel seed salad on the side.

    Yum!

Tonight, a meal out. So with my money and Weight Watchers I have two tight budgets to think about!:rotfl:

I was tired so didn't get around to doing much work last night, but did watch a bit of Game of Thrones - we're on series 2 which I got OH for his birthday along with series 3, only 2 years after we watched series 1. He said he is being patient and waiting for me to watch them, but I can tell it's frustrating for him that I don't really have time to box set the night away. I also think it's a great series, so we'd be better off making it last. He offered to buy another box set on his pay day... I had to remind him that his pay may have to stretch a bit further next month. He sees my POV! :)

Anyway, WW is a cost I am going to have to limit. I need to get to a healthy BMI ASAP so I can be a free member.

Speaking of undesired additional monthly costs, I saw a letter for OH yesterday from a charity he has signed up to give a DD to every month. He couldn't face opening it. I'm going to have to see how I can get this cancelled with him, as they came to the house and signed him up when he was having an off-day. I was so mad when he told me how he had felt he couldn't say no to the charity worker. And now there's the news about the poor old lady who killed herself after being hassled by all these charities to keep giving. I think these people are only too aware how the elderly, and people at home during the day are likely to be vulnerable. It makes me so sad. :(

The Only Girl -Ah well. It was a symbolic post lucky penny. We can call it that. Great about your pass arriving too. Free travel to work is great.

Wishus - I really wish they'd stop door to door vists full stop. I ended up signing up to a veg box scheme because the guy was so darned pleasant and I felt like well I only have to do 1, there was no tie in. I had the 1 and then cancelled it. Anyway the other night at around 7.30pm so quite late for intrusive visits we heard the door go, OH was in the bath, I was cooking, & we'd just finished doing sons bedtime. It was a rep from the veg box company. She rang on the door about 3 times, then still kept waiting there. In the end OH went to the door, I blooming wouldnt have! Honestly what do these people think they are playing at? I hadnt heard about the old lady, that is incredibly sad.

Well today was NSD 10 I should probably explain that I have bought food for my family within the business shop. I dont always do that, but when things are tight, if Im buying tomatoes, why not buy 2 packs of tomatoes? etc. So I dont think thats cheating exactly? But I am not spending out of our budget so NSD it is! Guessing a lot of people with food busineses must feed their families as well??

We are having a lazier start tommorow & I cannot wait. I am sure we are all tired turtles after a full on week.

    All the best

    I'm baaccckkkkkk!

Had a weekend with no Internet, camping out at the OH's new house which isn't signed up for any netty type stuff yet.

Then I was home for a night but it was the OH's last night at home so no computer time and then back to the OH's for the night before the furniture etc arrived and then stayed that night too and then an exhausted shyspender back here last night.

Doing ok so far on the SFD's. Don't have a total but I've only done one shop and a few fuel spends.

Glad OH is all settled at her new house, well, not actually settled, but playing tetris with boxes and furniture.

SD bought the cats, three of them, and we released them in the house after a five hour journey in their crates. Two have never known stairs in their lives and had to be carried upstairs to explore. One found an empty shelf and then he was even more happy when his cardboard box was emptied and he could curl in it. The other, the baby cat, disappeared. Cue three grown women searching the house, any open boxes, nooks and crannies for about two hours. We were paranoid that she had got out somehow but didn't know how. We kept searching and calling. She was hidden behind a radiator in the space of a small box.She didn't come downstairs for a day.

Quiet weekend planned here at home sorting paperwork and recycling and washing. Oh the joys of a quiet weekend!

Evening all! The Only Girl, good news on the insurance front! Shyspender, the cats sound very cute :)
Another NSD today - car going in for its service tomorrow, and need to do food shop so will be spendy. Have to renew home insurance tomorrow as well - managed to have a look today and get it down £8 from last year :D
Every bit helps. Have a relaxing weekend, everyone :)

Have managed another LTW but had to get some cereal, rice and pasta as well as MILK (!) and fruit so not a SFD. Oh, and a couple of bottles of wine fell into my basket while I was in he SM... lol.

Think almost spent food budget for the month already - eek - but should still only need odd bits and pieces for rest of the month as freezer and cupboards still looking quite healthy.

    Enjoy your weekends, Turtles x

    Morning,

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. Went to a school event and ended up helping the worse for wear sixth formers at the end of the event so only got to bed at 1. Spent £10 on some photos but now not convinced I want them, grrrr. Today will probably be spendy too as I'm travelling to the next town for an appointment and not sure about the car parking situation. Also planning on meeting up with family which may involve cake/lunch. I've really blown my budgets this month but only 6 days until payday and I can rectify the situation.

Good news is that OH got the new job :j it's a big payrise and a company car but lots more travelling. He says he's happy so fingers crossed it'll make the home situation a bit better as he'll have plenty of money for his hobbies and paying bills (and paying me back).

Hope you all have a lovely fay

Afternoon turtles! Fmess, great news about your OH :D
Today has been spendy already - dropped car off for service at 8am(!!! too early on a weekend!) and went food shopping from there. £35 spent but that should last us a while now (I bought a YS whole chicken and am going to attempt a "chicken challenge" to try to make several meals and a stock from it, which is what I'll do this afternoon). Got a voucher for £2 off next shop with price guarantee :)
Managed to get OH to cut the grass(!) and technically service was "free" as comes under lease car costs, so nothing unnecessary spent at least. Looking forward to getting into the kitchen this afternoon to do the batch cooking for the next couple of weeks :)

Hey Apple Muncher. I just want to say thank you as your wee question-y thing has really made me think about my life and how I am kinda going the wrong way about it.
Started a new diary with better goals and it's all thanks to you.
Can't believe that I needed someone to point out how unhealthy I was being when I should have seen the signs myself.
    :o

    Hey turtleys.
    :)

Due to the shakey beginning of the month I have no idea how many Spend-Free days I have gained but I know that I would never have reached twenty this month due to the holiday.
However, trying hard to budget and we currently still have £54 left in our food budget out of £120... so that's not too bad.

Diet has restarted with a vengeance. I have gone through all my clothes (I have a heap of "skinny" clothes) and have thrown out stuff that I would never wear. Basically, if I do lose heaps of weight, all I really need is new combats as I have everything else.
    :rotfl:

Away to attempt to cook a roast chicken so wish me luck (I suck badly at cooking and am still learning the basics).
    :)

Hope everyone is doing really well.
    Hugs to you all.

P.S: This good mood post is brought to you by AM's great question-y thing, a couple of good shifts at work... and that my granny is doing so good, she might be flying home on Monday!!
