    Nightmare with Lufthansa.

They didnt refund it proactively, I had to claim it.
But 3 months later still no refund.
First of all, they only have a premium rate number for calling.
So I tried to contact by post, I got a reply one month later where they misunderstood my request and declined my request for 'full refund of the ticket' even though I clearly asked for the APD refund for the two children due to change in the law.
I then replied again by fax and by post, but no reply 6 weeks later.

I think this is very poor business practice by Lufthansa.

And I think the airlines should have to proactively refund people not wait for for claims to come in. And certainly they should not make it so difficult to claim.

Never agina flying with Lufthansa (who I didnt like anyway as frankfurt is an awful airport)
  • hi, did you get this resolved with United?. They (proactively) refunded one childs ticket for me, but not the other. Children are 13 and 15 at the time of the flight. Very difficult to get in touch with United
    thanks

still not refunded, although a 'reservations Director' in Texas reckons they will now do it. We will see....

Nightmare trying to get them to refund.:(

What is it you're wanting to claiming for?
  • Hello I have recently bought 2 tickets Feb 19 2016 and have been charged £85.11 in Tax and Duty London to Guayaquil, Ecuador via Madrid, with IBERIA airlines. I have called them multiple times and the spanish assistant told me they do not process Tax refunds and i need to contact the UK government to get a refund. When I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager I was refused and they also told me they only speak spanish which I told them is not a problem as I am bilingual. Any help on retrieving the £170.22 back for 2 children's tax on tickets would be much appreciated. Childrens age 4 and 9.
    Thank you.

You haven't paid any APD for your 4 & 9 year old, so you're not entitled to a refund.
  • Gotogate want to charge £55 per passenger to process the refund. There must be some way to stop this gouging. Can we go to a regulator and force them to behave in a reasonable way

To be honest the best way of forcing Gotogate (and all the other dodgy OTAs) to behave in a reasonable way is to stop booking through shonky OTAs. As long as people keep giving them money, they'll keep trading, and keep taking the mick.

Better to research a company before booking. TA is full of complaints about Gotogate.

For all their holidays that depart/departed after 1st March this year the APD reduction has already been included in the holiday cost.
