Looks like German Wings are playing to hard to get on this - I've emailed and called and they are pretty much refusing me a refund on 2 x kids fares for flights last month to Bilbao - booked oct 2014. I am disputing it with them. Any advice welcome !!!0

Can anyone here clarify what is meant by Monarch airlines' Taxes and Fees amount for my children totalling £13.80 flying out of Manchester?
This looks suspiciously like APD to me for each child (£13)? but Monarch say no APD was paid on this flight for me to reclaim.......How can i tell what the taxes and fees relate to, as i'm guessing that some of them are set in stone and paid at the same rate by travellers of any airline?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

It gives you the breakdown of the taxes and details the APD as a separate charge on adult tickets. £13.80 sounds like the passenger service charge which everyone pays.
The adult ticket price will also be £13 more than the child ticket price.0 -
We are trying to reclaim APD Tax paid to United Airlines for a trip in May. They have advised us (via Twitter) to request a refund on their website here: united.com/web/en-US/content/reservations/refunds/refund.aspx
There is no category for APD and they have not replied to us when we ask. Has anyone been through this process that could help please?0 -
I have tried numerous times to get my APD back from onthebeach - we booked our holiday through them (flights and hotel). Easyjet have emailed me to say they refunded onthebeach on the 2nd July, we are now on the 1st September and despite attempts via their facebook page I still havent received my refund. Basically this is theft. Can anyone advise what to do next please as they promise a refund but nothing materialises?0

Hi, booked a holiday in January this year to Sharm for August. Was told originally by co-op travel we'd be contacted about a refund when they had a revised invoice from First Choice. When I hadn't heard anything I called in to be told we hadn't been charged APD for our daughter. There's no reference to APD on our invoice even for us. Any ideas where we stand please?0

What sort of breakdown do you have to show what was paid?0 -
In Jan 2015 I booked to fly to Canada, in Aug 2015, using Lastminute.com. My daughter is 2.
In May the law changed, and I contacted Lastminute.com using their contact us form, to get refund of £71.
They said it would take 8-16 weeks as they need to reclaim it from the airline.
We flew, and came back. (Had a great holiday, btw)
I contacted Lastminute.com again (on the contact us form) in week 17 and they said it would take 8-16 weeks, despite my protestations. They said this was because the airline must respond.
Exasperated, I contacted Air Canada directly. They emailed me the booking ticket they had at their end, and confirmed that no ADP had been charged for my daughter's ticket.
So what had Lastminute.com been doing all this time, sitting on the tax which was never charged?
Today (23rd Sep) I contacted lastminute.com and spoke to multiple people and finally got progress.
1. The APD had been charged when the ticket was booked, back in Jan. (I had to confirm this first to be sure I was chasing something worthwhile).
2. They heard back on 11th Sep (after I contacted them for the 2nd time on 8th Sep) what I had found out in 1 day myself: that Air Canada had never charged the APD as when the flight happened no APD was due.
3. Lastminute.com could not proceed until Air Canada had confirmed that no APD had been charged.
4. They can now process the refund.
What boggles me is how is it that it took nearly 20 weeks to find this out, when I found it out in 1 day?
What stopped Lastminute.com from running a simple query for all Air Canada passengers who booked < 1-May-2015 and who flew on or after 1st May 2015? Why wait? They sat on the money that was neither passed to the government nor the airline.
It only took 20 weeks and 45 mins on a phone call to find out what I knew all along, and that Air Canada had personally told me - no APD was charged and the refund should have been processed months ago.
Long story short: If you fly Air Canada, they didn't charge the ADP and Lastminute.com are being rubbish and dragging their heels.0 -
I'm confused. If APD wasn't charged by the airline then there is nothing to be refunded. An agent only collects the price of ticket as charged by the airline (plus anything they add on for themselves). If the price AC quoted didn't include APD the the agent wouldn't have collected it.
Just another reason to book flights direct, and avoid the shonky OTAs.0 -
hi, did you get this resolved with United?. They (proactively) refunded one childs ticket for me, but not the other. Children are 13 and 15 at the time of the flight. Very difficult to get in touch with United
thanks0
