Zara at the vets - Cruciate Ligament - surgery 01/05/15

Ohhhhh wee lamb - her bottom must be cold with all that hair missing!
She looks good GR - glad all has gone well & will keep everything crossed for a straightforward recovery. You have absolutely totally done the right thing in letting her stay there - the risk of the stairs is just too great right after the op.
Ouch to the bill though - that's not great ....Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Thanks... She is in very good hands where she is now.
The bill - they really are taking the mickey.. Quoted 3k but it is already close to £3900 with planned "Xrays every 6 weeks till boned healed" and check ups all CHARGABLE.
When I called FR about that op last week - they quoted 3500 all inclusive of all follow ups with Xrays etc etc. Now this bill will easily get to 5.5k minimum. No way. Sorry but wont be taken for a mug. That would take up all the remaining insurance and the reneval is at the end of October so would be left very worried in case of anything else coming up (touch wood). They can not possibly charge more than FR. Impossible.0 -

Did you by any chance get a written quote from either vets? The one that FR charges ,as you say,I would have thought would be far more expensive. So yes I do hope you can sort it out,it is a worry hanging over you till then.If you have been at the practice for a long time they owe you some loyalty.
The expression on Zara's face is priceless.
"Excuse me Mum,what am I doing in here and what is this very irritating thing round my neck ? I can't scratch or lick my bits " !!0 -
Good to see her looking so much better, she sure is one gorgeous dog.Treat other's how you like to be treated.

UPDATE,
As of today 180919. my granddaughter is now my official granddaughter, adoption finally granted0 -
Are you sure it's a quote and not an estimate? Vet care is very expensive and someone has to pay for the equipment, staff, training etc.0
-
I know vet care is very expensive but this is not right - too much difference - will try to sort this out.
Anyway, got some update from Ewa - Zara does pee/poo on the 3 legs she can use and observes with interest the rest of dogs in the house (6 in total at the moment), with Cortez, Ewa's dog and Oscar a boarder taking turns to be her body guards, there is even a bit of Romeo's fluffy white butt on the side of one photo - Ewa took the cage into the garden so Zara can be a part of whatever dogs are doing...when the weather is nice...

Of course I realise that but the quote from FP was 3500 and that was inclusive of all pre and post op check ups/xrays etc and here is is already almost 4k with another 2 xrays and few check up chargable to come so the total would be massive in comparison to the 3k I was quoted.
Can't talk to anyone till Tuesday anyway so nothing I can do now.
Got 6 cats and a dog registered with this particular vet so if this can not be sorted, will move all of them somewhere else I guess.0 -
Maybe collecting her out of hours would have increased the bill.0

It is a hospital, they are open 24/7.
And we are talking about potentially 2.5k more than quoted..0
