That crate, although XL size - is definitely too small for a dog to spend pretty much 24/7 inside, she can not stretch her legs.. Will order a bigger one (giant, meant for great danes) tomorrow.. sighhhh0

Interesting reading your progress, our Malamute has just been diagnosed with something to do with her Crutiate Ligament, we are waiting to speak to vet properly about it, but they said she would need an op at a cost of around £2k - we don't have insurance, the cost of the monthly premiums were so high we decided to self insure, little did we know something like this would happen so soon.
Will find out more tomorrow, I will make sure I get a absolute idea of total cost, we cant afford £2k let alone if they decide to add more and more.0 -

Self insurance is all well and good but you must have a plan in place to cover things that crop up - and they often will before you have a 'buffer' in place .... what were your plans for paying for anything that cropped up?
How much is in your 'vet fund' - can you top it up with a credit card?
If you can't afford 'full' insurance (and many can't now for a variety of reasons) - there are Accident & Injury Policies available that cost about £6 / month
They are for a limited amount (mine is £3k) BUT it would certainly go well towards the cost of say cruciate surgery and imho an absolute must if you don't have full insurance
Hope you get something sortedGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -

Thanks for the reply, interested in the Accident and Injury policy I will do some reading, I don't want to hijack this thread so wont post again, but wanted to add that she will get the operation whatever happens.0 -
Just got back about an hour or so ago ...
Zara seems fine, she walks fine (with a sling) but clearly hates the cone and the crate....she destroyed the crate - new giant one should arrive tomorrow...
Somephotos - not sure videos will work but lets see...

yup - she got her head out while I was trying to fall asleep upstairs so had to run down to rescue her and sleep on the sofa next to the crate "secured" with leads etc.. sighhhh
how could this be called an XL crate? nowhere big enough and nowhere strong enough...
