Oh dear, sorry she's still not great GR .... keeping everything crossed
Do you know what the vets long term plan is? She can't stay on that high a dose of painkillers for a prolonged periodGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250

Thanks - I have reduced her tramadol to 100mg 3 times a day from 200 mg three times per day - she had problems going for a poo and generally I felt it was too much. I am not a vet but I know my dog.
Tramadol is a painkiller not anti inflamatory so having her limping the same on the higher dose as she is on the current one - why such a high dose?
Plan? I do not think vet has any plan - told us to come for another check up next Tuesday but I do not see any changes/improvement and the Xrays were fine so I have no idea what is going on/what is the way forwards.
As the insurance this year is down from 7k to mere 950 - not like I can take her anywhere for a second opinion.

That would be my concern - tramadol is indeed a great painkiller but, having taken it myself, it's not really hugely fun being on it and, at that high a dose for any continued period of time, I'd personally have to be questioning whether quality of life is affected.gettingready wrote: »Tramadol is a painkiller not anti inflamatory so having her limping the same on the higher dose as she is on the current one - why such a high dose?
That's also quite telling - again I'm not a vet but if she's limping just as much on the higher dose that surely suggests it's not just pain that's the issue?gettingready wrote: »Plan? poor girl has really had a rough time of it with all her ops
So have you GR, you've both been really unlucky - generally a pet might need one major op ..... certainly not what poor Zara's had to go through. Poor button - please give her a big cuddle from me and I wish her well soon xxGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

perhaps she needs a little more time gettingready. and maybe some 'gentle' exercise? is there anywhere you can take her swimming? her body weight would be supported and she could exercise her legs without putting strain on them?0
-
i was told 3x5min a day walk only so swimming is out of question at the time i am afraid
her leg was fine, she was fine - before that mad run after the fox 2 weeks ago now and it is not getting better

Still limping very bad - we have a vet appointment at 6:45 but I have no idea what can he say if the xrays last week were fine.
I am so worried it may be her spine....

How did you get on at the vet's GR?0

Thanks xx
Vet seems to have checked every joint in all 4 legs and Zara did not even flinch which kind of tells us she is not in pain - of course rest for the next 5 weeks and Xrays on the 17th July.
She has gone to Ewa again at Happy Dogs last night to avoid the stairs and give her a better chance of recovery.
This is Zara this morning trying to decide if she wants a breakfast in bed now or later LOL
She is on a lead when out of the crate (crate still in the car, Ewa picked her up after midnight from mine and they got to Feltham around 2am)0 -
Oh, she did have her breakfast,,, now Ewa has to just mop the floor LOL

Perhaps she was putting strain oher front end or shoulders goinf up the stairs. Hopefully it will resolve now.
Keeping them from exercising is hard on us. I know there were times we had to put Cleo back in her crate in the kitchen as being with us meant she wanted to instigate play etc.
It is hard being a good parent.0
