Put it through the shredder, they can have it back! Account CLOSED!
    I've voted shredder :D

How do you actually go about closing accounts? I want to close this in June and I've also got a Post Office one which I'd like to close. Do I just put it in writing if I can find the correct address?

I sent them a secure message last night to close my card and they emailed me back today confirming its been closed. Nice and easy.

Not used it this year anyway so no loss.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Keep the card not use it, but keep it for the extras e.g. Credit monitoring
At the time of this post in the above poll 82% say that they will either cancel the card completely or just no longer use it and keep it for extras..

A thought must go to the employees of Capital One, 82% could be made unemployed, a staggering amount. Quite a worrying time for them :(.

I don't blame MSE members, after all I won't be keeping mine, it's a shame that the EU forced this onto Cap1.

I wouldn't worry about redundancy, I know first hand that's not happening... In fact they're actually taking on more staff right now ;)

    Barclaycard Platinum £5,200 [08-2015]

Only 5 more days using Cap1 - then switching all spending to my existing Tesco & M&S cards & collecting points.

I just got a reminder that I set on my phone today, it's my Luma statement date, so off to buy a Tesco gift card for £225!

    Last few days......

as it stands, i guess i am keeping mine, as i've not received a letter. i am hanging off from checking, as i am waiting for any doubt about a credit they have applied to my account to expire...along with seeing what happens in the next few days re. cashback.

if they slash my deal, i'll be wanting the fee back, the cashback to date, and then cutting up and recycling.

Weirdly for me, since replacing with the Barclays Freedom card I've actually moved more of my cash spending to the card. Contactless is a wonderful thing and something I don't have on my Cap1. I do wonder if it will have it when my replacement comes through the post in July...
