Clear the cookies and history from your browser. Switch it off then back on again and then see what it displays?Hi Midland,
I used the MSE link which took me to the 1st Direct site displaying £125 to switch. I proceeded to open an account with that link and a few days later switched an account to them. So, I still dont understand why 1st Direct will not honor this. The girl I spoke to yesterday kept insisting that the offer was no longer available and has not been since mid Feb.
So WHY are MSE STILL displaying a link that takes you to the £125 page if it's no longer available.
Surely someone can answer this0 -

Steve, I don't know what cookies are let alone try to clear them!! I always switch iPad off when not using and always clear the history after each use (well, don't want the husband to know what I get up to

When you visit websites they often store what is known as 'cookies' on your pc. These are small files that contain data about the site you visited and they make it faster to open the website when you visit it again. The trouble is that because it retains detail of the site you visited it is possible that you don't see the latest presentation of the site, ie you see the same presentation as you saw last time. You might notice that when you fill in your name and address detail on some sites and then visit the site again it seems to have remembered your details? This is caused by cookies.Steve, I don't know what cookies are let alone try to clear them!! So to be sure that you are viewing the latest version of a website you clear the cookies and hostory from your pc and that often solves the problems you are mentioning about First Direct.
I don't know about Safari but other web browsers have a place on the menu where you can tick various boxes one of which is to clear the history and others to tick might be cookies and passwords.0 -

Ok, googled how to clear cookies and now done it, cleared history, switched iPad off. Made a cup of tea so that iPad had plenty of time to chill, switched iPad back on. Went to MSE link regarding £125 incentive with first direct, still takes you to 1st Direct site offering £125.0 -

Without the risk of repeating myself this is what I keep trying to say, yes according to MSE the offer is £125. according to girl on phone at 1st Direct current offer is £100 and has been since mid Feb. I signed up in good faith for £125 via this site and only got £100 and as yet they won't budge.
I sent a message yesterday but haven't heard back yet0 -
Went through chrome incognito mode , definitely says £100 and has done for the last 6 weeks ish.0

You're right, and the girl at First Direct is wrong. It's not unknown for bank staff to give duff information.Without the risk of repeating myself this is what I keep trying to say, yes according to MSE the offer is £125. according to girl on phone at 1st Direct current offer is £100 and has been since mid Feb. Though you don't say on what date you applied for the account. It may be the case that on that particular date that the offer was lower but I cannot verify that, only you can. I think there may have been a period late Feb to sometime when it was less than £125. But if you have written and told them that you'll leave if they don't cough up, I think they will. They did for me.0
