  • Thanks for the updated list Natty, I'm not going to post my list of things to do, partly because of how long it is, and also the lack of things I've actually managed to get done this week!

Pigpen, glad to hear that you managed to get an appointment for Dot, at least them you know what's happening (or who to ask!)

Glad to see the weather has improved (slightly) and rain is no longer imminent for the weekend (up't north anyway!) :o

    Hope everyone is ok :)

Had a good morning. DGD1+2 helped dig a hole in roadstone chippings on the raised bed, big enough to take a builder's bucket as a reservoir for my bubbly fountain. DH helped too and then played with the girls, giving piggyback rides to the 4yo and happily playing "eleflump" with the 2yo :)
Meanwhile DS1 and DDiL1 paid a very successful visit to a new nursery for DGD2 right next door to DGD1's new school - it will be all change for them both in September.

After they had left, DH took me to a local garden centre for a very nice lunch (so it's minimal cooking for me tonight), and we also managed to buy various bits for the birds as well as a splendid rosa rugosa for the back fence :)

I decided if we get Dot checked and all is ok then no harm done but if she does have a problem getting support in place right now before school becomes a real problem is definitely going to help her, and the school staff! I know at nursery with 17 children they are really quite struggling with her behaviour. What makes it harder to understand is that she has an amazing vocabulary so you expect more from her and she behaves like a wild creature.. it is like having Stitch come stay forever! She is such a lovely little girl sometimes.
The nursery and school staff will be very grateful for your forethought, pigpen. I hope Dot gets whatever help she needs.

We have a new, hopefully permanent, member of the household, ... I am no good without a dog. Devil Cat has accepted the situation with his customary combination of rage, insouciance and pragmatism.

I'm so pleased for you, HB - hope your new canine companion settles quickly and DC manages to tolerate him. (I love the image of an "insouciant" feline - very apt for those that walk by themselves!)
Thanks for your kind comments too.

DH has gone to a meeting. I am going out in the garden to do some planting. I might even get to sit in the sunshine and admire the flowers while I drink a cuppa! No housework necessary, and paperwork can wait until this evening, when DH will be out again, wargaming.

Spent an hour in the attic and it's now 5 big bags of card and paper lighter, and a Carrier bag of rubbish.
DD2 was waiting when I got home from home so I've had a cuddle with DGS
Just got fencing measured so got to wait for a price now and friend to have a gap in his workload.
DD3 has just been round to take a bag of stuff shed got stored here so a bit more gone.
Just got to make a start on tea now.
