haha, funny to come across this thread again after 5 years and its still going strong, and I still need to eat beans. Some things never change. Reminds me to make some hummus tomorrow, and maybe some red lentil and tomato soup.

  • kidney beans are good in a chilli or if you dont have them the humble baked bean, chickpeas are good in a curry. I find falafels to be not worth the effort or humus. Butter beans are good in a summer salad or moroccan type food like with coucous. Pinenuts can be made into fruit tarts or breakfast cereal, Sesame seeds are good on top of cauliflower cheese, oat bran is a good cereal although I don't eat it, lentils can be used in a soup or dhal (indian cooking), Pearl barley is another soup ingredient but I have never used it, haricot beans are another I havent used but are good for casseroles, cannellini are good in a stew but I don't use them. As to mixed beans use in one of the above ideas. I thought I would sum up the thread as to uses of beans. Get hold of a veggie cookbook as that is more likley to help with pulses etc or a middle eastern one.
