So IMO yes what OP done was dumb in not going to visit with breeder, But that is past the mark now, it's the future of the pup that's important. OP has been saying she is getting her pup proper vet care etc.. so how can you say she (or he) should never have pets?? How do you know they weren't thinking of getting a dog for a long time?. And people are judging OP's financials which has nothing to do with this as relatives bought pup and maybe they bought the insurance, it isn't our business what they paid. All that matters is that the pup is looked after and cared for and OP has stated this is their intentions.
I havent said whether OP should or shouldn't have pets. In fact I actually provided info earlier on how OP could get reasonably priced cover for her pet. However that doesnt make other posters any less wrong when they point out how irresponsible it seems to be worrying about vet bills so soon after getting the puppy. Things can happen - especially to puppies as they tend not to have the control, training or experience of an adult dog.
If their spare income will be going to creditors, where are they going to find the spare income to feed their dog and pay for any potential treatment the dog requires? Questioning their financial capability is relevant to the dogs welfare - even more so with a bankruptcy looming. There are plenty of well meaning people out there who although they "care" emotionally, they aren't actually able to care for their animals - usually through taking on more than they can afford funnily enough.
OP said they can't afford it:Yes maybe they did the wrong thing, and all I am now trying to do, is get their money back, as I am in no position to be paying vets fees etc! Which is something I/family did not consider at the time!
However, your earlier post said that OP never said anything about rejecting the dog - my reply was simply showing that they had.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Is that really what you are getting from the OP's posts? If so you can I suggest you are rather naïve. The OP's story has clearly 'developed' in response to peoples replies. It's gone from I want my/rellys dosh back and to get rid to I'm a caring animal loving first and foremost person.
Let's get this straight, no true animal lover would ever order a puppy remotely and unseen,...end of story to be honest.0 -

OP maybe getting vet care but there is an issue over who is paying for it.
OP has sent a letter to breeder my guess is that it will be ignored and the OP will end up having to pay for the vet care.
considering the first post when the OP wanted money back, I cant see this ending well0 -

As for the shouty capitals, to me that usually shows that the 'shouter' has run out of any logical response and that you are responding from embarrassment.
For some serious advice I urge you to go back to the BR board and ask the experts there about this expense, hopefully you have already checked that you are able to allow costs in your budget for this, but that board is the place to get advice. If you are not allowed several hundred pounds a year in your budget for this then the money will have to be found via your other expenses, going without the small allowance for birthday gifts, clothing etc instead. Only you can decide whether your son and family will benefit more from a dog than they will for other allowed expenses.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I thought the same.
Using capitals on an internet forum is classed as 'shouting' and is rude. For some serious advice I urge you to go back to the BR board and ask the experts there about this expense, hopefully you have already checked that you are able to allow costs in your budget for this, but that board is the place to get advice. On the OP's first thread (about bankruptcy) Fermi (a board guide) advised the OP to seek professional advice but there's nothing to say if the OP did that.
I think she would do well to take the advice given by Soolin above.0 -
Anyone else reading the latest posts and thinking Parvo? Poor poor puppy.0
-
I think parvo was ruled out by the vet initially.
My thoughts from the latest post were all about trying to work out what the *'s are for:) I'm guessing extra emphasis because you can't go bigger than caps lock. I personally would have chosen BOLD, but I guess it all gets the job done.
Does give me a bit of a headache though.0 -
The OR didnt bat an eyelid that we have 5 pets when we went bankrupt.
Op do you get housing benefit if you do you can register with pdsa and then you only have to pay 10% of vet bills.
If not tesco were quiet cheap. Obviously they wont cover preexisting conditions.
I just included the animal food of about £10 a week in shopping costs.
The booster injections are £33 or if you have a jollies there £25.
I use billy no mates for fleas and a natural wormer.0 -

About 2 months ago a friend bought a puppy who displayed similar problems. It had diarrhoea from day one but the vet ruled out Parvo as it was lively and seemed fine other than loose stools. By day 5 it was admitted to the vets with blood in stools, there it became lethargic and died the following day.
Ironically around the same time a relative had a puppy (and believe me thats for another 'what an idiot' story) who also presented the same and again lost the pup around a week later.
In the midst of this I'd taken my dog for his boosters and mentioned to my vet that I'd now known 2 dogs to die from Parvo within a week. She told me it was rife at present and they had seen many cases there themselves and sadly not all were positive outcomes.0
