The family didn't phone up and order the dog though, the OP did. So someone who we have to surmise has no money otherwise why would they be going bankrupt, is given £450 and instead of doing some thing sensible with it, they buy a dog .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'd agree if the family had bought OP a Ferrari to cheer her up before going bankrupt, but this is a living creature.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Well the fact we do know is that you're going bankrupt - i.e. no money.
So how are you going to pay when pup needs his vaccinations or he has an accident or develops an illness that exceeds the amount/time covered on his insurance?
Completely irresponsible decision.0 -
OP - You really have no sense of shame or embarassment do you?
You are still banging on about the money - my concern is the PUPPY and how unlucky he is to have been born to a breeder who doesn't seem to care and now sold onto an owner who appears equally as insensitive.
Poor little boy.0 -
This thread is actually really concerning me, we all read terrible stories all day and perhaps we become immune, but I can't get this one out of my head. It reminds me of the old white elephant predicament where something lovely was given almost as a punishment
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_elephant
perhaps the relatives really disliked the OP?
I am also concerned that if the OP is looking at going bankrupt that she has not taken proper advice. I lurk on the BR board and some stories there nearly reduce me to tears, there are parents who worry about buying ice creams on a rare day trip out due to the amount they have been 'allowed' under BR where they have to juggle necessities with a rare treat for a child. Yet the OP seems to think she is going to be allowed enough money to keep her child happy as well as lots of disposable income to spend on a very expensive pet. I really fear that once the hardship of BR bites something will suffer, and I suspect it won't be the OP
As for constructive advice, and not being in the dog world I don't know if this is possible- but could the dog be handed safely over to an animal charity who could care for it and hopefully pass it on to a good home. If the dog is ill, and this is not just settling in issues, then a charity might be able to raise funds to get some medical attention for it. Then full details, however scant they are, of the breeder could be passed to the police and all assistance given to track down and perhaps investigate the breeder situation.
Then fi the child does want a pet, get something cheap with no maintenance like a fish .
Can I just point out please that although a fish may be cheap (well, common varieties, but mainly the goldfish)it does NOT come with "no maintenance".Proper ,suitable size tank, and set up costs, are not cheap, and caring for the fish includes quite a lot of maintenance actually!! Proper advance knowledge is needed to prevent a lot of fish suffering ,and as a keeper for nearly 30 years I have seen some awful cases of fish neglect, and many a time have rescued them from the horrible situation.
Please choose your advice a little more carefully. No creature is maintenance free.I know you were speaking in relation to owning a dog and yes of course a fish requires less attention and commitment but it still needs the right sort of care.Goldfish are NOT easy pets!0 -
Embarrassment!!!! YES TOTALLY!! BUT THEN I GUESS YOU'LL TRY AND MAKE UP SOME EXCUSE FOR THAT TOO, OR A COMMENT JUST AS YOU HAVE BEFORE!!
POOR PUPPY, AGAIN, BRINGING SOMETHING UP again!!! HE IS *NOW* IN VET CARE (OR DID YOU NOT READ THAT PART!)
I *WAS* TALKING ABOUT MONEY, BUT WHERE DO YOU SEE THAT (APART FROM THE *FACT* I AM NOT PAYING) MENTIONED IN MY PREVIOUS COMMENT!?!?
OUR *YOUNG* PUP *IS* NOW BEING TREATED, WHICH MEANS THE *WORLD* TO *ME & OUR CHILDREN* AND HE WILL REMAIN WITH US, ONCE FIT & WELL, UNLESS *WE* FEEL THAT IS *NOT* AN OPTION!!!!
POOR LITTLE BOY, *YES, FOR NOW, COMING TO US JUST AS HE HAS* BUT BY GOSH, I'M SO GOING TO PROVE *ALOT* OF FOLK WRONG!!!
***WATCH THIS SPACE ALL YOU THAT ****THREW **** AT ME FOR DOING WHAT I DID AND THEN CONSIDERING SURRENDING HIM BACK TO AN AWFUL PLACE, isn't going to happen, **OUR** boy will lead a good life, WITH US, DESPITE WHAT*YOU ALL* BELIEVE!!!0
