Your allowed £30 a month for pet costs in bankruptcy. Your also allowed to save an emergency fund, which could be used to pay vet costs up front, until insurance pays up.
Bankruptcy allows quiet generous living expenses. She wont necessarily have to pay into an ip if she has nothing left after expenses.
According to: https://www.insolvencydirect.bis.gov.uk/technicalmanual/Ch25-36/Chapter31/part7/part4/part_4.htmOther general household expenditure such as hairdressing, family holidays and additional allowances for pet expenses: food, insurance etc. should be considered on an individual basis. No amounts should be included for these types of expenditure where it cannot be evidenced that the expenditure is fulfilling a reasonable domestic need given the particular circumstances of the bankrupt and his/her family. Where any household/family expenditure claimed appears above average or excessive, further explanation and evidence should be sought. Where no evidence is provided to the official receiver to justify the excess expenditure, he/she should either disallow the expenditure or, where appropriate, include a reduced amount for that item, referring to the average expenditure guidance for a similar sized family unit in the HES, also see Annex D.
An allowance for sundries and emergencies of £10 per month for the bankrupt and £10 per month for each dependant household member may be included as an expense.
So no idea where you got the £30 a month from - no amount is guaranteed for pet costs. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Even if that sum was allowed I can't see that it would be sufficient to feed, insure and maintain a large breed dog.0 -
My two German shepherds cost around 60-70 a month to feed, no longer insured as they were over £100 a month each so put aside an emergency fund. Medical expenses of around £20 a month plus extras (new toys, beds, leads, collars etc when needed) even halved to just one GSD you could never do it for £30 a month0

I've just read this thread right through. Hopefully the pup is on the mend now, but my concern, having had dogs all my life, currently 2 that include a German Shep is that GSDs are idiots until they are 2 years old! Mine went to training classes every week, despite having trained all my previous dogs successfully myself, but he was a proper challenge! Ears turned off, would nick anything once my back was turned and then look soooo innocent!
However, after 2 years he finally grew out of the obnoxious teenager and is now a lovely gentle adult dog. But it took time, patience on a daily basis.
I would question if the OP, who has an autistic child, has the time resources, let along the financial resources to cope.0 -
What would the Koreans make of all this I wonder?0

Hi! We foster dogs and recently rehomed a GSD x Husky pup. When he came to us he had terrible diarrhoea. Turned out he had roundworm and tapeworm. 3 days after treatment his stools were 'perfect' and he perked up in himself.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned! xx0 -
How's the pup doing OP?0
