Desperate Advice Needed on Puppy Purchase.

Hope so, Shaun from Africa.
Yes, I took him to be weighed before I was given the Drontal (From Kennelgate)
The vet hasn't carried out any blood tests, she has requested a stool sample, over 3 days though and just told us to be extremely hygienic, as if there is anything there, certain things we can pick up.0 -
Frankly you should be ashamed of yourself. Your family bought you a puppy to cheer you up?
:mad::mad::mad:
They could have got you a box of chocs and some flowers.
That poor pup's life and welfare is entirely in your hands.
Did you not even consider vet bills, dietary needs, emergency funds etc?
That poor animal is a living creature - not a thing to be used for your personal gratification. It's not like trying out a pair of shoes and then rejecting them because they don't fit.
Do the dog a favour and get him to a family that will care for him for the whole of his life AND do the world a favour and never consider getting a pet again.
NOT EVEN A GOLDFISH.

TRANSFORMERS!!!!
Absolutely LIVID with YOUR reply! HOW DARE YOU accuse me of NOT giving our puppy a new home FOR LIFE!!!!
I WAS ASKING for people's help/advice as if there is a way around me keeping him and sorting this problem, then I WILL!
AND ALSO I HAVE OWNED A DOG PREVIOUSLY, WHEN I WAS IN A BETTER FINANCIAL POSITION AND I MISSED HAVING A DOG AROUND ME, SEEING AS OUR OLD BOY WAS PTS 12 MONTHS AGO HENCE WHY MY FAMILY BROUGHT ME/US OUR NEW ADDITION!
Yes I had considered vet fees etc, but when you purchase a puppy and are told he's in good health, you don't expect to forking out on vets bills within a matter of a day!!!!!!!! Hence why I HAVE insured him with Petplan, which sadly does not insure for illness for the first 14 days!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
when I was looking for a dog I spent several months getting information, and when I finally found a breeder I checked she was registered ( having seen one of her dogs in the town where I lived) . I took the dog on the understanding that if we didn't get along, I could return him. I visited her twice over a number of months, was invited into her house It truly concerns me that you could unwittingly be funding puppy farming.did you consider that?
There are a lot of charlatans involved in puppies and even so-called animal rescue.
At this point all you have is a dog with diarrhoea , who's to say they ever did feed the dog on royal canin which is expensive I think. Perhaps it's the change of food that's caused the diarrhoea and your tone in the letter is threatening before you've even established if there is an issue.0 -
To be honest Holly, I never considered she was a puppy farmer (if she is/was) as according to everything she said and the AD said, mum & dad were hipscored etc, it never crossed my mind
I put my trust in her tbh! She did say she could also KC register the pup, but she would of been asking an extra £150 for that. 0 -
We are in need of some advice, as to where we currently stand with regards to a Puppy purchase we have made.
<.........>
ME:
Hello *****
Very concerned with our boy! Since Saturday he has had constant diarrhoea, which smells terrible! We haven't changed his food, we are feeding him Royal Canin Junior which you mentioned he was fed on with you?
I have got him at the vets this morning, to have him checked over, if it does turn out there is a problem, I will be requesting that we bring him back to you and receiving our £400 back as we have only had him 2 days.
We obviously understand puppies get upset tummies, but something just doesn't seem right.
I've had no response by email, nor will she answer her phone to me!
Can anyone tell me where I stand here and are we within our rights to take pup back and get our money back?
Thank you.TRANSFORMERS!!!!

How dare I?
You've come on here asking how to get a refund for a pup you bought without even meeting him, his parents or viewing the home environment first.
That's all I need to know about your animal-loving credentials.
Essentially, you're saying he's defective, so you want to reject him and then what? Get another one in a better colour?
You can't afford a dog if you can't afford to pay the vet bills - FULL STOP.
No matter how much you might want something, you can't always have what you want.0 -

Well I'm sorry but it should have crossed your mind. Why did it not occur to you some people who sell dogs will say anything for the money. You intend to put the dog in a home with a child-and you've never even seen its temperament and demeanor around its siblings and owners. What on earth were you thinking of!!
A year ago I knew very little about dogs , but I visited rescues and spoke to lots of animal lovers , even got the list of which rescues are recommended( one so called rescues import dogs from irish puppy farms and sell them as in need of Rescuing , this is commonplace!)
By registered, I mean a breeder who is registered with the local authority.0 -
I asked all relevant questions (regards health checks, general health etc, I have attached emails which were exchanged at the bottom of post)
Unless I'm missing something, at no point in those emails did you ask any health questions, ask to see the parents KC reg details, etc.
Why did you choose to buy a pup from a breeder that was too far away from you for you to do the basic checks eg. Checking the parents, regularly visiting the pups and their environment and seeing what state of health they're in?
You were obviously treating this as a business transaction and not as buying a lifelong pet. Dogs can get ill at any time, and saying you want a refund if the dog is ill just suggests to me how blindly you walked into this, and suggests money is at the forefront of your decisions.
I think you'll be hard pushed to get any advice on here as you have clearly gone about this all wrong and members are going to be riled by your attitude.
You say your son is autistic, but your husband could have easily stayed with your son at home whilst you went to visit the pups, or vice versa.
Or you could have found pups available nearer to home.
I assume you have probably learned your lesson now, but if I were you I'd be making peace with the fact that your money is long gone, and start looking at the best insurance for a dog with potential pre-existing conditions.0 -
Alarm bells ringing all the way with this one. A breeder who without any sort of home check can deliver a puppy over 200 miles by the next day. No papers. A potential owner who buys over the internet with no research into the history of the parents of the puppy and the breeder and so on and so on and so on. Poor Puppy is all I can say.
- I note you say he is insured with PetPlan but all good breeders provide, from memory, 14 days cover with a puppy. Did you get this with yours?0 -

The biggest alarm bell was that the 'breeder' had already born puppies up for sale in the first place!!
Most decent breeders meet and vet the prospective new owners and has the puppies reserved before they are even born.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
